I, and a number of other players i have encountered like the Oakley SI gloves. Personally, i have replica versions, mostly because i can't justify spending like $75 on gloves in my first year. Maybe down the road.

Gloves can be made of alot of things cotton, leather, spandex, nylon etc. Most usually have some additional material as well, nomex, kevlar, bits of plastic that cover the knuckles.

I enjoy these gloves made by blackhawk

Alot of other folks wear okaley combat gloves or just plain old mechanics light duty gloves.

I am not sure what you mean by "BDU" type.

As for airsoft gloves at walk in stores, You could try Mechanix gloves. I have seen a number of players with those, and i believe you might be able to find them at an auto-parts store

Lowes, home depot, Marks work warehouse, all sell mechanix gloves.. fraction of the cost 3 x the durability of "tactical gloves"

I'm using nomex flight gloves. Just wanted something thinner for better dexterity. Haven't been too rough on them.

On a hot day, I love my grey Camelbak Vent gloves. They even go great with the ACU. Basically the same protection against bb's as Mechanix Originals, that is to say... not much.

Heard about them on MM, many moons ago:

Bought them here (though they are discontinued, you can still find them, and what savings!)

I bought some at a milsurp store in edmonton, they are the hunting camo patter, made of some dense wool, and lightly padded on the knuckle area. I quite like them actually, until I get shot in the finger anyways.

Scottyfox, how are they holding up? They look like they'd be great when it's hot.
I like that they're short too. Shipping reasonable from Sierra?

All my gloves are from hardware/camping/outdoors/liquidation stores and they are almost as good quality for what is needed for airsoft.

If you really need some actual tactical gloves, look for a tactical or police/fire/EMS supply store in your city. Calgary has two of them and you can buy real military gloves and kevlar police gloves etc.

Honestly though, this is airsoft. Just go for some good gloves you find at Canadian Tire (Mechanix for example). If you want some imitation Oakleys or Nomex, you can find cloned military gloves from all the Chinese sites.

i have a pair of leather cadpat gloves i wear in the winter with a liner, but for most of my warmer weather play i run either full finger or fingerless dr.watson green/black work gloves. the mechanics brand is pretty much the same thing so you cant reall go wrong with them either i imagine. if its not cold all you really need to worry about is covering the color of your hands and just a little bit of padding for the unpleasant hand shot, IMO.

I've been using these since I started, they work very well and even if rough on them, still last a few years. I recently cut the fingers off mine just because I had too many blow outs and got fed up with sewing them every year.

And, this year I ran a pair of OD and black work gloves, padded knuckles and mesh back, got them for $26 at Mark's Work Wearhouse. Very nice gloves. Not shown on the website but can be found in stores. I need a large but only the XL fits me.
