crono issue

I crono'd my gun using my crono and its around 402-410, i was over at a friends and it was 418-425 all using .2 ammo. trying to determine if one of the cronos is faulty or what else it could be. Any ideas?

Did you adjust the hop up at all between the two tests?

There does appear to be some discrepancies between certain chronies.

Atmospheric conditions will also affect FPS (you'll see a small increase in FPS at higher altitudes -- we have one field here where everyone consistently chronies ~10-15 fps higher than usual/elsewhere).

This is why field limits need to have hard cutoffs (400 fps MAX or whatever) since there's always going to be a margin of error.

If you chronied it high first, then the spring may have settled.

Different bbs chrony at different FPS as well.

My M4 chronys at ~390 with bb bastards, and ~380 with king arms and madbull bbs.

Also seems that humidity has a factor in fps, higher humidity level = higher FPS, since water is non-compresible.

wouldn't that be the reverse? higher humidity would be lower fps because of more water in the air to move?

Chronos aren't perfect, but if you're concerned take the higher value as the true value. Or you average it between for your sake... but a field operator may not care and say his chrono or nothing.

a 120 spring should be getting you 410-420 so you're in the right neighborhood either way.

It's always the field operator/game organizer's call.

Always remember that a field FPS limit is just that, a limit. Not a goal to achieve. If you think of upgrading your gun to be as close as possible to the field limit, you're gonna be in for a rude awakening when you're sent home from a game that you travelled far to go.

at mason relic 4 we used 3-4 excort 3200 *mind the spelling* which are considered the best in their class. and none read the same on the same gun with same bb ect ect. these are 100$ chronos so they aren't perfect. a 1000$ radar gun the cops use need calibration on a regular basis as well....just something to consider
