Charger Problem!
Hey guys, I just bought a new 'Tenergy' smart charger and a new 9.6v g&p battery pack for my VFC Scar L. The problem is, I plug in the battery to the charger and it charges for like 40 mins then goes green.... The battery only lasts like 1 minute in the gun. I keep unplugging and plugging the battery to the charger seems to be the only way to get it charged....am I doing something wrong here?
Help! |

I now can not dissemble the gun...the hell is going on?
I pull out the pin but its jammed or something, the lower receiver wont slide of like it has done before....and the gun will not fire at all >.> This is a brand new rifle and all... |

If it's brand new, why the hell you disassembled it?

I did the basic disassemble at the store and at home. Did not touch the gear box.
I managed to dissemble it, but I had to pull the barrel out to get the lower receiver unjammed. Put it back together again and its not sticking anymore...but it still wont fire. |

Well first of all Tenergy is crap. You should probably get something decent.

For the jamming it's probably the grub screws that retain the inner barrel and hopup chamber in the outer being too tight. They have to be a few turns tight so the inner won't fall out but not wound up solid.
For the take down try loosening all 6 of the torx screws and then pushing the pin from the lower receiver out.

as for the battery... it's possible it just needs a cycle to "wake up" depending on how long it's sat on a shelf ... (if your charger doesn't have a discharge, or cycle function... find one that does...)
is the Scar a 430+fps cnd model? does it still have the stock spring? I've heard the vfc motors are hit and miss ... but it might only be the earlier models that have the "high speed" motor instead of the "high torque" motor I only mention the motor and spring as I went through a customers 1st gen that he bought with "internal gearbox damage" ... turns out the motor had nothing left, and the pins into the stock were oxidized ... as for getting the receiver off .. the hop unit is ment to push forward to let the gearbox past... push it foward via the magwell or eject opening/hop access.. just don't put so much force that your gonna break something.. if it doesn't move stop.. and refer to above about the grub screws being too tight and it can't slide forward.

Don't do anything. If you've arranged with the store to go back and see what's up...leave it to them.
Take your battery/charger too. Ask them to try a known-good battery. Any shop that can't/won't do that isn't worth spending a penny with. They should have a good charger to charge your battery too. Hopefully you'll be able to pin it to the battery and/or the charger. Beyond that and you're looking at what's up with the gun. Could be anything from a mangled piston, to a broken tooth, to a marginal motor, etc... |

So,
I went this morning, with the original VFC Scar L. I talked to the guys at the store, and they agreed to replace the gun... It get better (for now...foreshadowing?)! I turns out they had two VFC Scar H units, and I was able to upgrade to that unit for free (as they sell them for the same price). It came wit ha suppressor as well. Tested it with a lipo battery in store, took it home, charged up the new batteries and BANG, the fuse blew out. At this time I also noticed that the bolt was lose...and the safety slipped every now and then. :banghead: So, I was pretty ticked at this point. I jumped back on the bus from my residence (its a 2 hour trip one way) got back there, and talked again with the guys at the store. At this point, one of the guys was "Ohhhhh...shit." Reckless got it bang on. They where selling me one with a high speed motor, so they replaced it with a high torque for free. I was unable to point out the malfunctioned safety and weak bolt spring before he did...so they replaced the whole gun and replaced the motor again ( I tiped the gun tech for his time, just because.) I now have a fully working VFC Scar H. Kudos to everyone who posted here in the thread, and the great customer service at the local airsoft store in Toronto I deal with. Now...just to wait for the age verification to go through so I can find out about buying some VFC Scar mags! |

What kind of battery & charger are you using now?
FYI G&P makes terrible batteries |

What??? I was told G&P/Intelect make some of the best Ni-Mh packs around. Have I been living a lie?

My personal rules going forward: 1) Only use LiPos, 2) Only use nice balance chargers, 3) Use the heck out of those little battery voltage monitors that hobby king sells for like 4 bucks or whatever, 4) Stop buying batteries in Canada that have been marked up 8 to 10 times their original price, buy high quality RC packs from hobby king for 5 bucks a piece, en masse, thereby avoiding tears when a battery goes bad.

My old team, JSOC, ran G&P rifles exclusively, most of them using crane stock batteries.
My buddy and I had 4 good batts between us, but one other guy got 4 batteries in a row with bad cells in them. Their NiMH batts are good when they work, but notorious for having bad cells |
