***GAS GUN GURUS*** small piece broke off bottom of hop-up... problem or not?

The pistol is a KJW P229. The piece that broke off is from the bottom of the hop up. It is a small rail(?) or slide/guide.
Here is a photo ( the piece is under the slide, where it came from is the white spot on the bottom of the hop up. Right under the Philips head screw in the middle of photo.)

My Questions are...
- Is this going to cause a problem in the future? It cycles nicely still, and there doesn't seem to be any problems at the moment. But will it stay that way?
- What likely caused this? (other than it being f@**ing white metal) Would it be hitting something? Or was it just from recoil shock?

Thanks for any comments, Cheers.

It shouldn't be hitting anything, all it does is hold the barrel assembly steady. Without it, the barrel unit will be less stable, but I doubt noticibly so. It's not like the barrel can droop any lower than it already does in a KJW229.
