Real Sword - Worth it?

Hey folks,

I've been working up a pretty solid collection of AKs and Soviet weapons, and I've been enjoying them a lot. I started with a humble (and cheap) Dboys, went on to a few other things, and then came back around with G&G. I have the G&G AK-74 (the one with the battery built in to the hand guard) and the AK-74u, and they're both awesome. Being Top Tech guns, they're probably the best performing guns I've owned. Those 11.1 LiPos give you a crazy rate of fire, and they come stock with Mosfet, tightbore barrel, etc. Really fun to game.

Then I got myself a Real Sword SVD, and that component/build quality is just... Wow. Super solid, and a gorgeous gun.

So, now I'm looking at a RS Type 56. I know the gun will probably be as close to indestructible as a real AK, and I'm sure I'll have no qualms about the build quality, but, how do these things actually perform in game? RS stuff is tough to buy new in Canada, so, my only option is to ship it in from an online retailer, no chance to toy around with one in person before buying. How good are these things on the field? Can a stock RS compare to a Top Tech G&G with a mosfet, tightbore, etc?

I turn to you, internet! Anyone have one of these? How do you find it performs? I need input before I drop a ton of money!

I'm not sure exactly how it would compare performance wise with an upgraded top tech (assuming all the standard upgrades are done) but the Real Sword blows anything G&G out of the water. AEG wise Real Sword makes some of the best AKs (Type 56s) on the market, combining Quality internals and externals. Bonus points when replacement parts are easy to find and I believe they are 100 percent TM compatible internally.

Also LCT makes amazing AK variants aswell if you are looking at really good AKs

As Curo said, you can't go wrong with a Real Sword Ak. I used to own one and it was a great gun both inside and out. I'm almost tempted to buy another one!

Real Sword only makes Chinese Ak variants... if you want the Russian flavour go with LCT or E&L. Their build quality is on par with Real Sword!

LCT or bust IMO for most AK variants

Fair enough. Maybe I'll aim for an LCT instead of a RS. Cheaper, anyway.

$350 shipped is pretty legit.

Just depends on the model you want.

I like the 74u and 105's, so I'd have to get LCT.

Agreed ^

There's nothing that can compare to Real Sword. The Chinese use thicker steel than their Russian counterparts in their AKM. And guess what - so does Real Sword. I can confidently say what people have suggested for a long time - Real Sword bought machinery and or a factory from Norinco and makes these things from the same quality material as Norinco.

I've actually been watching that thread, it's a great price, and the gun looks in good shape. I may jump on it, but, I was kind of set on a wood stock. The LCTs are pretty comparable to the RS in terms of quality and construction, then? How about performance?

Yes and yes. Tho ive never owned a RS I have shot them. I seen 2 of em die game 1. My LCT lasted a season and was then sold, havent heared any complaints about it thus far.
Ignore the first 2 photos, thats just my vsr10 box lol

I heard some stuff in RS are proprietary, someone can correct me.

LCT doesn't have AS nice as externals, but it uses a standard V3 gearbox.

You can't go wrong with either, just get what you want, and if there is a deal then go for it.

The gearbox for Real Swords is proprietary. From what I remember, it was shortened a little to conform to the 1:1 scale Type 56 receiver.

Hm, a little worrying, especially if Hectic has seen two of them die straight out of the box. I've heard a lot of good things, though, so, I might still go for one.

Don't think he meant out of the box, just on the field.

Everyone has different experiences with their guns, some guns break faster then others.

All airsoft guns will eventually break. That's just the way it is. Real Swords have very very few proprietary parts, and if they DO break they are extremely easy to source, so don't let that deter you. I'm very confident that if you do buy one... you won't be disappointed.
