Yes. Best to ship via courier to your new address.

Ya ship it, doesn't necessarily have to be in a locked and padded case, just use the box it came in and put it in another shipping box. That's how new guns are shipped every day from online retailers.

It's just you and an airsoft gun making the move from Toronto to Edmonton?
Don't you at least have a bag of BBs?

for air travel in country, it requires a locked case, and you must put it in checked baggage.
Cause you know... the baggage handlers are a lot nicer on bags when they load and unload them, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgDizh4DMno

All major courier services offer insurance you know... Just in case if item breaks or gets lots in transit.

In country airport to airport passenger service is not an issue, I've travelled with my Airsoft a ton.
1) ensure it is unloaded, mags kept separate. 2) remove the battery take it in your carry on, most airlines will not let you check the battery for fire reasons. 3) ensure it is in a lockable case 4) when checking it in ask for a declaration form, if they are unsure what form you need it is the same one they have you fill out for paintball guns. 5) they will send you and the case to security baggage for an inspection, be honest with them and do not try to hide anything (once again make sure it is unloaded and mags in a different bag) 6) guard will check it over probably ask a few questions with a big grin on his/her face 7) proceed to security yourself while your gun goes town the conveyor belt with your luggage 8) travel safe 9) pick up it and your luggage from the carousel at your destination |

Another option is greyhound. They have freight delivery services, probably price competitive with an airport.

Have you ever seen them load an aircraft?
Pickup the case and AEG and huck it onto a trailer. Then huck it ten feet onto a conveyor belt. Then huck it another ten feet and put a bunch of other stuff on it. Then repeat in reverse and drop it a few more times for good measure. Look in the bag; if it's all OK then the soft case will be good to go as checked luggage.
