Mid Cap Mag question

I just have a quick question. Looking around, I see people recommend getting Mid Caps over Hi-caps, and honestly I agree with the bulk reasoning. So I plan to get a few. Are cheaper plastic ones ok, or do they break too fast or jam up? King Arms has a 5 pack on sale for 35 bucks on Toronto Airsoft (which is close to me), and I was curious if it would be worth it. I don't wanna just go and break my bank dropping getting good metal ones for 30-40 bucks a pop when I'm just starting out, you know? But if they are likely to screw up on me, I don't wanna just toss away my money without getting some use out of them.

That is a good question, and I'm wondering about my own Mid-Cap crisis, as it were. I have two High-Cap mags as well as two Mid-Cap mags. From what I've seen, High-Caps aren't allowed and/or frowned upon in many skirmishes, so that reduces my ammo capacity by 600 rounds right there. Having Mid-Caps seem like the best idea to move forward with, so I may just go to Toronto Airsoft as well to pick up this bulk pack.

they have a 30 round low-cap 5 pack for 25 as well, but the same question needs asking. Will the plasticy mags work for me? Like, I need a few, and I know this. I'm a tad trigger happy. So Mid Caps would be nicer. That powered Drum Mag would be the best, but I didn't think most places would allow people to run around with 5000 round mags.

Never said anything about being a good player. I'm 6'3", 220 pounds, and clearly not a ninja. I just like shooting things, and not getting in trouble doing so. Paintballing I used to run outta ammo all the time. Just the style of play I enjoyed. I kept everyone pinned down shooting a lotta support while my team flanked. Usually worked, despite my not getting many kills. And not getting the kills is fine for me. As long as we win, and I wasn't the first one out, I'm usually happy.

If you like the support role, ditch the AR and get an M249 or some other SAW, nobody will frown down on you using a drum mag with your SAW

I've had both an LMG and a bolt action rifle for a long time.
I do really well with the 249, but it's more of a show-off piece.
I actually get more kills, more frequently, and more difficult shots with the bolt action rifle.

There's ups and downs to both weapons, you can suppress people with both, and the best tactic for taking either out is the same.
Only major downside is the BAR is limited in the number of people it can engage at once, and the LMG has a harder time running back and covering a wider zone of control.

Either way, its best to be a rifleman first.
And I'll tell you this, one LMG isn't a big threat, but two LMGs is a serious problem.

Being new, I was thinking getting an AR first out would be the best idea. Maybe a bullpup of some kind, or a Scar. Then working my way back from there. A bolt action would be awesome, but I think you need to actually be kinda good to get away with it. But most rifles I see tend to come with a high cap, so I was planning to keep it handy for that support role. 300 rounds better be able to keep people suppressed for a while.

Not to sure on KA magazines, but I would suggest you order from Asia or find a source in Canada that sells "MAG Mid Caps" magazines.

You can also look into "Beta Projec"t Pmags, and if you want to ball hard then I would suggest Magpul PTS Pmags M Versions.

any midcap is fine, plastic/metal so long as it feeds BBs into your guns.

The metal ones are plastic inside too, just a metal shell. I've got some CA metal mids, and mag plastic mids. Both work fine. I've got some other plastic mids that don't feed anymore but I think the springs are shot (or they are completely full of dirt :-/)

2.Hicaps do a bad job at being magazines.

a 300 round highcap is only 4 lowcaps
most people using lowcaps carry at least 8

worry less about suppressing, and more about actually hitting your target

+1 to the above.
If you tend to drop your mags, or be overall rough with them, get a midcap with a metal shell. Otherwise, plastic ones will give you a better bang for your buck.
