The fact that they are imported as training tools is of little consequence to us, really. Nominally we don't care which Prescribed Purpose they are imported under, though if had our pick, I suppose it'd be for film and publication. The question is how CBSA will react to importing under one Prescribed Purpose and selling to the public (not a Prescribed Purpose). I can't imagine the CBSA taking that well.

Basically, like Saint said, they can import them, but can't sell them to us. They can't sell us a MK. II launcher either. And I don't think they will be willing to sell them to civilians and risk losing their license to import the stuff that makes them the big bucks.

I would chalk this up as they are available, just not to us.

I'd suspect Sig might pass the contract to build these around a few companies, the first reveiws of these I saw were not trouble free so they could have worked with KJW, and then went to KWA.

KWA and KJW aren't the same brand. KJW makes a TM226 clone and a 229 derived from the TM design. KWA designed their own 226.

Ok, after more research, I confirm that as far as the supplier is concerned, there is no restriction with respect to who can purchase Sig P229 GBB (6 are inbound to the supplier, ETA end of July). They usually have code indicating item that are restricted (gun, ammo, parts, etc) and for the GBB, there is no restriction. I m also contacting various distributors. I should have no issue ordering from them (at least, that is what I was told by the supplier employee in charge of selling them to the distributor)... More to come.

No clue about pricing. Keep in mind that Sig is also making a airsoft 552 assault rifle. I did try to get the supplier price without any succes. I would not be surprise if the price is higher then the ASC supplier price... One way to find out

The KWA PTP 226 and the Sig-branded 226 are totally different.

KWA have their own design, and their guns have no trademarks.

Sig models are rebranded KJW models only.

Well if they plan to sell them to local goverments you know the price will be as low as possible.

I read somewhere that these will take standard KJW P226 / 229 mags too. Now, I thought I read somewhere that the new generation KJW P226 could fit a TM mag also. I'm wondering if these Sig-branded models are like that as well.

As for price, I'm not sure how much they sell for in the US, but the KJW P226 is just over $100, if memory serves me correctly. I'm not sure how much more expensive the Sig brand one is, as I haven't seen it for sale on any sites yet (not that I've been looking). I'm not sure how much of a markup there'd be for the Canadian market.

I coulda sworn that the Sig 226 was KWA Contract. I also heard rumors that the 552 is a cyma rebrand, tho im skeptical to beleive such a reputable company would tarnish its name by using cyma to make their 552s.
