Lowering fps on dan & wesson

hey guys just picked up the dan and wesson 8 inch revolver. the fps on the box says 453. Now can I cut the spring a bit to lower the fps? will that work?

Thanks! I legit just saw this myself but isn't this for actual bb guns? I thought the point of this video was to POWER UP the gun, and not lower the fps?

It's the same thing pretty much, except one has a .177 barrel and another has a 6mm barrel. If you read the description/comments of the video you can see that it is the same mod for both guns.

And there's a portion of the video where he takes pliers to the spring and explains that it lowers the fps. Cutting 1-2 coils will usually do it, he says.

The innards are the same for all intents and purposes as airsoft. If by adding you can make it shoot faster, then the reverse is also true by taking away you can make it shoot slower. The concept revolves (pun intended) around the spring, the "stronger" it is the higher your FPS will be, a weaker spring will result in lower FPS.

There are several threads on ASC regarding how to change the FPS on Dan Wesson, and same with different branding revolvers. A search should reveal them.

Here is one: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=140922
It's like people, the outside might look different but the inside is the same.

You might as well buy the velocity reducing shells.

So I put in some rubber and metal washers on the hammer spring. If my theory is correct then the more tension on the spring, the lower the fps will be? correct?

No, as stated before:

"the "stronger" it is the higher your FPS will be, a weaker spring will result in lower FPS"

So by putting washers it increases the tension, thus, it will be "stronger." You want to do the opposite.

An easy fix yes but they don't leave you with adjustable fps.

The power-down shells reduce the velocity by over 50% which means you'll be shooting anywhere from 200-250 fps depending what length barrel you chose.

Edit:

Really?... On second thought maybe you should just get the shells, it will be much simpler for you.

Oh woops haha misunderstood what someone said on another thread. So I took out some of the washers to release the tension on the spring. Will this lower the fps?

Your answer is in this thread already..... people have taken the time to answer your question the least you can do is take the time to read all of their responses.

Now is the time when I would usually question your age and intelligence but this is "the tank" so I won't get into it.

I apologize for appearing arrogant. I just got into airsoft within the last year so there's still lots I'm learning. I think I may just save myself the trouble and get the reducer shells.

ps I'm 21
