From what I remember, silicon oil is less than ideal for metal on metal contact, as it tends to adhere. Find yourself some Ultra-slick, or an equivalent. I know illusion is selling some grease right now that is good.

personally i use GM wheel bearing synthetic grease.

Will not harm rubbers
can be found in any GM car retailer(sometime you need to call and order some)

and also for the more critical , heavy stress part i use this awsome grease : MD Labs XF7 Grease
Pricey but worth it. I use it on my real steel for many years

Yes.

Don't forget to lube the oring on your nozzle every 15 mags or so, will avoid you lots of problems.

I thought I would post here since I have a simple question that does not need a new thread.

I removed the front sight of my WE M4 (open bolt) and was wondering if the (fake) gas tube serves any actual function or if I can just not put it back in?

Indexes the barrel nut for proper rail/handguard alignment.
