TM/WA P14.45 Hybrid! Get rid of your shitty WA hopups!

Well after a full day or working and testing, it's finally alive!
I sucessfully fit a TM hopup and inner/outer barrel into my WA P14.45, no more shitty hopup, and complete lack of good upgrade barrels and rubbers, best of all, this requires NO modifications to your WA pistol

if any1 cares, I'll post up detailed instructions
Basically, I had to grind down the back face of the hopup so that the stubbier WA nozzle could even reach it, then I had to "move" the hole for the slide catch down and forward, and thin the bottom of the hopup rubber as well as cut a notch in it, as well as modify the TM outer barrel lugs to fit with the WA slide lugs, it sounds alot simpler when i say it than it was when I did it, but it was ALOT of trial and error

requires TM hopup unit (duh) also needs TM spring guide and TM outer barrel, as WA ones wont fit

the brass barrel'd hopup is the modified one, with the hopup out of my hicappa beside it for reference, and WA at the top

Nice work. I've always hated WA pistol hopups.

well, shooting tests to come tomorrow, as of right now i only have 10 feet to work with so I can only that THAT its shooting, not how well or how hard

I wonder why no company has tried to do something like this, if they made a new hopup for the WA pistols to replace the shitty stock design, htere'd be a fortune to be had from all the WA users replacing their hopups no?
*hint* xD

There seems to be a strong sense of respect for designs in Japan. WA has had crummy hopups for ages, but they never copied TM or KSC designs. It's interesting to note that every Japanese gun maker has their own unique hop up designs while the Taiwanese copyshops well, copy. TM has had patent protection on their hop up design for some years which has forced some differentiation. It may be possible that their Hicapa hop is still under patent protection which precludes aftermarket makers from getting into the game.

Hmm... the hopup in my WA wilson combat is missing one of those tiny ball bearings... this seems like a good solution. Interested in how well this work.

well just as an update, Ive got it ALMOST working, if I turn the hop down it loses a ton of air. so I probably trimmed it down a tiny bit TOO much and the BB gets pushed past the hopup if its not on, so Ill shim it back to see if I can get it working, cause if I turn the hopup all the way up it goes to the stratosphere with .30s ;p

also, I modified the WA chamber to fit on the TM hopup, so now I can have the proper Para Ordnance marking on the chamber

Over the weekend I put a shim on the face of the hopup and fixed the airseal for the most part, as it states in the ad, it still has issues with .20s, but functions great with .28s and 30s

I took all the information, your other posts in the sales threads were just "bumps" There was no other information, nor did I filter anything out.

in any case, ill edit my previous post. I just hope that your next buyer doesnt end up with something hes not expecting.

Back on topic.
Why do you think .2's dont work while heavier weights do?
What do the .2's do that the .3's dont?

no its the same issue, as I said, but ive eliminated it down to .2s, because to get .2s to go straight you have to turn the hopup off, so the BBs lose alot of retention in the chamber and lose FPS, sometimes actally just lobbing out hte barrel, but hell, that happens with STOCK TMs sometimes, lol, anyways, it DOES mention that in the ad, but with minimal hopup, enough for .25s, it works fine, I DONT however know why there is so much effect from the hopup though, in my TM I use almost full hopup for .28s, in this I use hardly half and it hops .30s with ease, guess its a good thing?

So really, it has nothing to do with the ammo weight itself, but rather the fact that the hop up is not holding the round in the chamber without the hopup.

Try putting retention around the hop up rubber to see if thats enough friction to hold it in the chamber without the hop up.

Easiest way to find the issue is to remove the hop up/ib assembly from the outter barrel and put in a round by hand. Then see if the bb is retained. It should retain as is.

If not, then you have an issue.
Best at that point to take an unmodified TM hop up assembly and compare the two for differences.

well when I get home from school tomorrow I was planning on playing around with it some more, including a narrow strip of tape around the hopup rubber in front of the hopup nub, but only if I get the chance, midterms! yay!
