Barrel polishing

I'm just wondering has anyone thought of or actually polished their inner barrel with and automotive clay bar? It seems like it'd be a good idea because of how fine an abrasive it is

I'm all for refining the barrel but in a past conversation with a tech the reason you pay so much for prommy and madbull barrels is for the "rifling" and most importantly the protective coating on the inner barrel.

I think there's some kind of spirit or solvent used on real-steel to clean the barrel that would also help airsoft barrels.

inner barrel warning

whatever you do don't use real steel cleaning lubricant on airsoft, it'll melt any plastic parts (i.e. hop up)

Every time I Google “barrel-polishing” I keep getting directed to pictures of you mom...

Anyways, j/k. Couldn’t help it.

For your inner barrel, use a barrel swab or soft cloth with a bit of Windex. That’s it, that’s all. Be careful not to drag it through the hop and/or get any Windex in there. Your inner barrel should have a very shiny and clean look to it, just hold it up to a light and look through. If you see any dust, debris, or smudges, gently clean again. Do not use anything that could produce and oil or film, and do not use anything abrasive, even mildly.
