Classic Army still making the G36?

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knew what was happening with the CA36 (as in the G36, not the G36C). Their website is useless, and nobody in Canada seems to stock it. I know there is the option of getting a C and CA's conversion kit, but that's a pretty pricey alternative.

Maybe I should just give in and get the Ares?

Any input would be appreciated

I would get the JG over the CA G36. I have both and after owning three CA guns, they all have the same build issues. Majority of the screws are either soft metal and the factory assembler over torques the screws and strips most of them. The gearboxes have so much grease it leaks out over time.

My JG was nicely build from the factory and much better finish.

One of my CA M24 was full of touch up paint on the metal and plastic parts because the assembler must have marked it up during assembly.

I've owned both, and I liked the CA one better. I'm not saying the JG one is bad, I just liked the CA externals better, but obviously I replaced most of the internals. The stock gears however lasted a good 7 years before a shim broke and caused a gear to strip.

None of my CA guns came with issues caused by the factory assembler, or any issues at all for that matter.

Would you say the Ares would be an acceptable alternative given the difficulty of tracking a CA down?

I'm not a fan of ARES, their build quality just seems all 'round cheap to me. My friend has one and I've used it. The finish didn't feel that good, the internal parts were pretty bad, and the optic had fibres trapped inside.

The quick change spring system is nifty, my friend loves it but that's because he doesn't know how to open up a gearbox. I don't really care because I can change the spring on my CA in 15 or 20 minutes.

I would take a JG over ARES any day, I've owned one and for the price I can't complain. It never misfired for three years, then I sold it.

Was his a G36? I've read that their 36s seem to be better built than the rest of their lineup, but obviously I've no experience.

And isn't the JG just ABS?

Yes but ARES isn't that much better, and is twice the price.

Fair enough. Are parts relatively easy to source of the JG?

Edit: Ah, nevermind, I see there's a current JG thread

Thanks though

i can vouch for ares g36's being of awesome quality. externally i actually like them better than my old CA's and much better than the JG i used to use...

internally mine have held up perfectly and the only issue i ever had with one was that the hop up rubber tore after 2-3 years of use when dirt got into it.

The Ares may be around twice the price but I find the externals to be 5.7X nicer. It also field strips the most realistically of all G36 AEGs which many people will appreciate.

Maybe I'm just harsher because it was the only tan G36 I've had experience with. It also might have been a lemon. It came non functional out of the box, I had to re-solder the wires to the trigger. The internal build quality looked kind of sub-par to me, and the optic had some fibres stuck inside.

Having compared both a CA and a JG, I'd go for the CA any day. The externals are significantly better (nylon vs. ABS) and the gun is just solid.

Ca internals in the gearbox were really good in the guns I bought recently! I was surprised.
their problem i.m.o is that they often pre-strip screws around the mechbox. You get a good AEG with a good mechbox, good plastic parts and stripped shitty screws.
