Spring life

I think i saw somewhere here that leaving a gun unused for a while and the spring inside can become weak or something

not sure if its true?

If i buy a gun (say a vfc, not sure if quality matters here) and leave it in the box for half a year or something, will the spring go weak? or any other internals for that matter? thanks

I heard this too, I'd say yet the spring may become more weaker if it is crappy BUT

New springs are like $20+, so it wouldn't be a big deal really to get a new spring

as long as the spring isn't left compressed it will be fine(pulled back ready to shoot), shooting the gun on full auto than storing it will do this, pop a couple rounds on semi and it should be fine, if you fire the gun and after you hear the popo of the spring slamming forward and you hear the whir of the gears turning right after the spring is now compressed again, try and have it so when you pull the trigger on semi the pop is the last noise it makes and the spring will be good.

batteries will loose charge hold after long term storage though.

Also, there's couple of AEGs that has a spring decompression function built into the gearbox......for example, ARES's recently-released G36 series......
