VFC HK416 2012 model VS VFC HK416 new model..

Hey guys,

I'm sold on the HK416 from VFC, but I'm trying to decide between the 2012 model VS the newer model. Any experience with either? What would you go for of the two, and why?

I'm assuming the 2012 model is pretty outstanding because it's still being stocked 3 years after it's release.. But I know this forum is full of wisdom, so that's what I'm seeking!

Thanks in advance!

As far as I can tell the 2012 model is still the "current" model for AEGs. The 2014 is a GBBR.

... and according to the Aitsoftology's 2015 SHOT Show coverage, the 2015 Version of Umarex/VFC HK416 series AEG will came installed with basic MOSFET, as well as improved piston and tappet plate:

Nice! I wonder when that'll be on shelves in Canada. Any idea?

I just double checked and yes, the 2012 is the current AEG model. My bad. Now it comes down to the 2012 VS the 2015..

Unless you want the mosfet on the 2015 any of the VFC 416 are incredible guns. The gun is rugged and gorgeous. I bought two of the 2012 versions, the "D" long and the short. I now want the M27 and 416C to finish my collection.

I don't go on Youtube much for airsoft shit. Out of the box, it sounds like the 2015 version improves on the 3 main complaints of the 2012, the piston, tappet, and trigger contacts. Sounds like it'll be the best stock AEG for the year. That being said, none of the improvements matter to me, since I change most of the GB parts out anyway, and I prefer to make my own MOSFETs.

Biggest selling point I'm seeing is no more "I AM UMAREX'S BITCH" written all over the receiver lol. I had to source an Asia version of the 2012 to not get that shit.

According to that video, the Piston and Tappet plate have also been upgraded. The piston is now re-enforced and has a half-metal rack and the tappet plate's been upgraded somehow as well. Incidentally, the mosfet is a basic stock version and is not programmable.

According to "Dizzy" form the Overhoppers Blog, they're obviously shipping now in some places as his new M27 had the upgrades. Here's his review:

EDIT: I must have missed the part about the trigger contacts.

I wouldn't bet on that... The M27 in the Overhoppers review still had the paragraph.

Elite Force are infamous for showing demos/prototypes with accurate trades and no legalese but then shipping production models with the same old ugly paragraph on the right side and "CQB" on the left.

That happened with the new Dark Earth Limited HK416... the initial images showed full accurate trades indluding the "D" in place of the silly "CQB" but then the production models came out with the old trades again.

That's why I made sure my "D" was an Asian Version as well.

Trigger contacts, you missed nothing. The point of the MOSFET is to protect the contacts.

Interesting.. It sounds like the 2015 would be the ideal stock gun then.

In terms of upgrading/modding, just how much can be done to the 2012 VFC HK416? Would I be correct in assuming that the weaker parts could be replaced with stronger ones? I'm not new to airsoft, but I'm new to modding.

Can't wait to put it all together.

VFC V2 is my favourite platform to upgrade. I have one running at 60 RPS at 350 FPS. Anything you want to do to it, you can.

Good to hear! Now if only they would bring out an accurate HK416 A5 version, I'd be in all over again!
