A trick I found was to go down to a local coffee store (one that roasts it's own beans) and buy the soft LARGE burlap bags from them. I think I got 5 or 6 for $10 and it was WAY more than I needed for my ghillie... I noobed it up and used all of it... The ghillie ended up about 60lb's when wet. :|

Need to remake that bear coat.

My entire ghillie is made up of cut up strips of cadpat tw personal camoflauge netting and works quite well anywhere cadpat does.

so basically even if I do dye and spray it for a brown/green colour
it still wouldn't be a good effect?

Unless of course people look at your Avatar, and then all your credibility as a sniper/spotter goes right out the window.

and tell me 'reputable' poster
why would a coffee shop employee assume that you're getting the burlap for airsoft to make a ghillie suit, than ask for his profile name, make an account and look at his picture, than come back out front and tell him [shelledpants] "no . . . no!"
and fuck, WHO THE FUCK CARES

Last time I checked, all coffee shop clerks check ASC for noob snipers. Tacks about ten minutes onto your checkout time.

you can get burlap from any garden centre for 5 bucks for a couple square meters. Thats what you wrap trees and bushes with.

I bought the synthetic jute thread kit from GhillieSuits.com. However, I noobed the jacket pretty hard and used way more thread than it needed.

It's a goddamn yeti suit now and weighs damn well near 15lbs dry (I don't want to imagine it wet). I used 10-20 strands on each knot when, as I just found out, I am actually only supposed to use 4 or 5. Will definitely have to keep that in mind for the pants and hat! haha

Hotter than hell when I tried it out today (25 degrees, sunny, and super humid). I'll be adding additional material to it as well to "leaf" it up a bit, probably burlap material as soon as I can source some locally.

I made mine the old fashioned way - a flight suit, netting and a shitload of burlap.

Does anyone have suggestions on a nice lightweight base for a suit? Trying to avoid a full flightsuit, something more modular or even just netting/cloaking with lots of venting. Suggestions? Comments?

I have horrendous problems with overheating in the summer as my body runs warm and I sweat profusely. No matter how much water I drink I still seem to fade out faster than most guys in the heat. The winter is another story I can lay prone on the snow for 3+ hours and love it.
