Recently picked up 4 brand new HSGI Extended Pistol Tacos ($160 yay) to use for my P90 loadout. I should point out for one, the new Taco pouches are actually pre-stretched out now, so it is not as much as a bitch to install the malice clips on them (I was able to install them without any pliers). After finally getting them installed I don't really have any issues with them, they are like my normal Rifle Tacos, the retention system works perfectly and holds the magazine in place, I am also surprised on how short the pouches actually are. Despite how short they might seem compared other P90 mag pouches though they still work just fine if not better.

My only 2 issues are that the magazines don't completely push all the way down into the pouch (as seen in image 2), there is about a inch of space between the bottom of the pouch and the magazine. Now this does not affect the performance of the retention system, however it does cause the magazines to ride a little higher than some would like. This could probably be fixed with long term usage/wear to the Kydex overtime or simply remolding it.

The other issue is that the pouches do push the magazines away from my body more than I expected (as seen in image 3), again it is more of a personal preference, I personally like it since it allows me to access my handmic/ admin kangaroo pouch.

Anyways after first impressions I am impressed, I will get to test them out at a game this weekend so I will get to see if these truly will hold up. It is nice to see HSGI actually tweaked the pouch design though to allow easier malice clip installation.

NOTE: To my knowledge I don't actually know anyone or have seen anyone use these with P90 mags till now, so enjoy interwebs.

open top pouches are always a challenge for p90 mags. I tried making some inserts for my chest rig pouches and they fan out and get in the way when I'm moving, thus I abandoned the 1 rig idea for p90 and rifle.

I did come up with some pretty kickass kydex mag holders though, I just wish I made the backs taller to give more mounting space.

I had a p90 and I just stuffed the mags in my m4 pouches. About half the mag was left exposed. But the pouches had a shock cord retainer to keeps the mags taught.

Yeah I took the P90, that a friend sold me and took off some of the mods he put onto the gun, an RIS front rail kit and Magpul AFG as well as an extended buttpad. I decided that since I am going to be getting a SCAR that I should keep the P90 as a dedicated CQC weapon.

Who needs bulletproof plates, when you have plates of bullets on your chest?

The tacos look good for the P90 mags!

King Arms FN P90 Tactical "Low Rider"

I stumbled across this post a while back when looking up height over bore solutions for P90's. I thought it was an interesting mod and earlier in the year, I had some time to mimic it.

Mine differs in that I chamfered the edge to allow for more mounting options like angled light mounts. The rail is by ICS and was meant to be used on their MX5 series rifles. It had the wide spaces between picatinny grooves like in the pic but alas, the bottom part of the rail is off spec. It's too wide. Not terrible but qd mounts will have to be adjusted to fit properly. So, no cross- platform optic swapping for the P90.

Here is what I came up with...

What I used:
-Metalset A4 aluminum filled epoxy (from aircraftspruce)
-2024T3 aluminum bar (from aircraftspruce)
-hacksaw
-vise
-various files
-240 sandpaper
-2 M5 countersunk hex screws (from hobbyking)
-Armor Coat rust paint aerosol (real stinky)
-Johnson drill guide
-M5 tap
-ICS MX5 tactical rail

The rest of the P90 is made of a fiber-reinforced nylon and not ABS. The fake/molded in lower receiver screws commonly seen in the King Arms Ultra Grade, TM's, JG's and Classic Army's are replaced with actual steel hex screws. The interior has 5mm felt sheets on either side of the gearbox for sound dampening. I secured it spray adhesive. I used dynamat before but it was too sticky. I wouldn't recommend it. I can post up the templates I used to make it if anyone is interested.

My next project: A home made laserex-style laser...if I can only get that damn lower receiver to crack in half. Its resisted the tried and true hair dryer method thus far.

I also came across these in my wanderings. The metallic blue one is really really low. You'd have to lie your head down like you do when your head hits a pillow to get a proper view down a lower sight. I also like how the docter sight is backwards. lulz

it's not a bad idea, but the standard position allows a proper upright shooting position and cheekweld. It's comfortable to smush your face into and naturally see through the sight.

HoB is a bit of an issue... but you get used to it. Besides... coming up over cover is slower than coming out from beside it. Also you don't shoot the cover that way. :P

Hmm this is a very cool mod tho, thx for sharing. Do you find looking through an optic mounted like this more comfortable from the cheek position? I've been pondering the thought of doing something like this as well.

That's true. I think FN took that into consideration when designing it. On the TR, this isn't a problem as its optic rail is only about 1/2" higher than mine. On the King Arms version, it could get a bit absurd. Imagine an eotexh xps on the already high king arms p90/optic rail. It would be more like a chinweld someone would need to employ to aim properly. Then again this is Airsoft and things like cheekweld don't really matter

I find it a nice fit with an aimpoint comp m4/m4s without a riser. The dot sits at about the same height as the original iron sights.
