Hasn't happened to me yet. But I have heard it's happened to others. All I can say is make sure the top cover is properly attached and secured with the pushbutton.

I had to superglue small piece of metal at the bottom of receiver release pushbutton, works so far. From a look of it the hole in top receiver is a bit too big on mine...

ok, well, my motor is acting up.
I stated above that it failed after 15 rounds, but after exposing the motor, it started working again.
Well, was gonna break in the hopup today, but after a dozen rounds, it died again. removed the mechbox and tested the wiring. Motor seems to be the problem. Its the turbo 2000, might explain why the offical batches of AKs are released witht he turbo 3000.

Had the same problem with the motor of my m4a1... Magnets inside the motor where not properly glued... They detached themselve from the casing, blocking the rotor.
I Replaced it with a TM EG1000

a motor swamp is very easy.
I emailed DEA explaining the problem.
the 1st batch of ICS AKs obiously shipped with less then perfect motors, thats why the AK officially ships with the turbo 3000. Some on Arnies have had problems already with their AKs also.

I guess this is a bit off topic, but have anyone here tried the CA version? If so, anyone care to do a comparison?

I have both. The SLR105A1 by C.A. is a nice gun, but the ICS is still the winner IMHO. The ICS has a very balanced, solid "feel" to it and has some nice touches like the fully retractable bolt and disassembly is much easier on the ICS.

My C.A. is a little quirky. You can't rapid fire in semi as the trigger is really slow to return, but works fine in full auto. I haven't had time to look at the problem yet and it could be something really quick and easy to fix, or maybe not. The best I can hope for now is 1 shot every 5 to 6 seconds. ICS works fine.

Parts like the bolt cover are not interchangeable though between Marui, C.A. and ICS (tried that already).

Curious, dunno if anyone's tried it... but would the whole mechbox/motor assembly be swappable (as a whole) with a TM box/motor?

I do believe so. Sure looks like ICS made a copy of the Marui. But then you'd have a shiny silver look if you pull back the bolt (unless Krylon is your friend).

hey'd i'd gladly paint it black and even airbrush in a 7.62x39 for effect if it saves me grief.

I guess I'll wait to see more opinions of the "final version" with the 3000 motor and all when ppl start using it/upgrading it.
