how to make fingerless gloves?

how do I make a fingerless gloves without it unraveling the cut ends?
and how do I attach a small square piece of metal (steel) to the back of the hand area, so it can be fitted tightly?
Sorry if this was a repost of another thread, but thanks.

Just cut the ends off and stitch some bias binding around the edge of the new end of the finger.

If the fingers are made of synthetic material use a flame to melt it and it wont unravel. Be carefull it just melts and doesnt make a big hole Test it on the parts you just cut. Also molten nylon burns like hell on the skin so be careful.

Metal parts can be stitched like a button, just make a hole. You can also use velcro, the type that sticks on one side and has Velcro on the other side.

Shoe goo works great for attaching metal to flexible items.

An easy way to finish the fingers that you've cut off is to fold them inside out, fold the fingers over (taking the newly cut tips then folding them like a shirt sleeve you would roll up), sew them (machine = 3-5 seconds each, by hand = 1-2 minutes each), repeat 7-9 more times and call it a day.

Don't cut all the way to the knuckle, leave about 1 inch then hem them up as above to the length you want.

Googled "How to attach metal to cloth":

Got a naruto headband, but the instruction seems to be valid. Not sure if it's what you need, but you could adapt it.
