reducing fps from 405

hey ya...just had my g36 upgraded...got it chronoed around 394 to 405 fps...just wondering....

short of replacing spring or add reducer...any other options?

heard that is will settle down over a period of time to a little slower...

dont really want to take mechbox apart this week...so is it true? it will slow after some use...or do i need to get a 150 spring rather than the 170 in it?

any help as always greatly appreciated.

You could fire off a pile of rounds and it might drop down, or cut a portion of a coil off... otherwise yeah, velocity reducer, or new spring.

If he's trying to pass a field chrony test or bring it down to a softer fps, heavier BBs will do nothing for him.

You can try using a TM velocity reducer, if you have the money? Using ported cylinder will also decrease your velocity, although I don't know if that would have any mechanical consequences. If you can switch to a less powerful spring, that's really your best option.

If you're using a bearing spring guide, you could always pop that off and put one of the cheap brass Area 1000 ones in. That should cut about 10 off...

pull the trigger untill the gun almost fires....so you know the spring is fully compressed. leave it compressed between games.
I know its harder to do with these fancy irregular pitched springs, but I had a PDI spring and I was able to drop the fps down a pile.

lots. I had it compressed for weeks at a time. in the end, i got it down over 30fps just by compressing.

Cheaper to change the spring, in the long run.

How could it possibly be cheaper to change the spring than to lower it's strength by compression?

PDI 150% spring might net you 350fps, or it might get you 425fps. Everything in between actually, depends on which PDI 150% you get (luck of the draw, most are bad now). I'd suggest a Prometheus or Guarder 120SP spring.

Of course, I agree with the compression method most. It ain't fast, but you aren't shooting that much over as it is.

This is the best option.. I've had springs drop as little as 15 FPS and as much as 40 FPS by doing this.. depends on the spring and how long you leave it compressed but a few days should suffice.
