Custom TM 1911 - The Desert Rat

Came to own a TM 1911 w/ Guarder FMU (above) in the Spring. I'm unfortunately sidelined from playing this season, so I decided to customize it and make it a bit of a project.

Here's the physical modifications done;

- Dehorn entire pistol;
- Flat backstrap;
- Commander hammer;
- Gunner grips custom dyed and modded for install;
- Lower and flare ejection port; and
- Cut frame for beavertail safety + install.

Then the frame/slide was done in Duracoat "Tactical Coyote Brown", with the controls/barrel in Duracoat "Tactical Flat Dark Earth".

I'm very pleased with the finished product, and I still have enough DuraCoat to do 5-6 pistols.

Pics of finished pistol;

That is amazing. I love the slide safety, and the beavertail.

Excellent idea making the controls, barrel, etc in the darker colour. Works wonderfully.

How did you lower and flare the ejection port?

With some needle files of various shapes and alot of time+patience. When I researched regarding this mod before I did it, I ran across alot of accounts of people ruining their slide (realsteel) when using a dremel.

Looks fantastic. I'm starting to lean closer to the 1911's.

I did it myself. Order the Duracoat and had it delivered to the UPS store @ Ft Drum, drove across and brought it over. Used an airbrush to apply.

It looks great! Did you mean to spray the chamber the same colour as the frame too?

No, the outer barrel is done in the same colour as the controls, "Tactical Flat Dark Earth".

Wow thats a really good job well done Josh! The finish on that duracoat just looks awesome...

Cudos on the custom flared ejection port as well, im sure it was alot of time, carefull time! But the end result I'd say more than worth it.

It is sweet, but without a 3-hole trigger it's like doing a CAG loadout with Crocs!

Wow, looks great. That's a
nice paint job.

I bet you were sweating when
cutting the rear ducktail tangs?
