VFC or ???

Hello Everyone,
First off this is my first post, second, I have learned a lot from all of the posts and topics on this forum, so thanks!!

I have recently joined the airsoft community about three months ago. A friend and myself played here in toronto at Siege Airsoft and got hooked. Since than I have spent probably close to $1500 - $2000 on equipment and gear.

After reading reviews and being new to the sport I went conservative with my first gun and purchase a G&G M4 SRL, So far to date I have had no problems with it and it chronos at 375 fps which is perfect for indoors. I also own a couple pistols including TM G17 that I have completely upgraded myself including a guns modify SA costa aluminum slide. My pistol is triple the cost of my rifle...lol

Now that I see myself continuing and enjoying airsoft for the long haul I'm looking to upgrade my Rifle. Here's where some help and opinions are needed.

One of the rifles I am considering is the VFC Umarex HK416D V2 Full Metal.
I know they have upgraded a few things on the new gearbox for 2015 but if its not a huge difference, I really like the colours (Bronze & tan) on this VFC HK416 version 2 compatible gun. (i havent found a ver 2 in canada with this colour)

Would you guys recommend just getting the new one or would upgrading the older version be easy to do. (I am good with upgrading myself)

Second gun that I m considering is the Krytac Trident MK2 CQB
http://www.krytac.com/shop/airsoft-g...mk2-crb-fde-92

I'm leaning towards VFC but are there any other brands/Guns I should consider? My budget would be up to $700 (can) with tax.

Thanks reading and comments in advance.

Ps. I apologize if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure if it should be in the newbie talk.

If you don't mind waiting till April, go to the airsoft convention. Can browse the wares there, and usually some decent cash deals to be had. Vfc would be my choice if my budget was there

Differences between the old version 416 and the 2015 416:
- Improved tappet plate and piston, stronger material was used to address common points of failure.
- New style hop-up, stronger material and rotary style
- Factory installed mosfet

Replacing the piston, tappet plate and hop up are typically easy tasks, but unforeseen complications can always arise when swapping out parts. Depending on what mosfet unit you get it will require soldering.

VFC is going to be regarded as the top brand here on ASC. Krytac certainly makes top quality guns as well, with factory included mosfets. You can't really go wrong with either of those 3 options, it largely boils down to personal preference, they're all good guns.

I Would agree with everything said above already. VFC & Krytac have the best body's and internal builds for that price range. If I had to personally go with a choice between a 2015 version or a older one for cheaper I would go with the newer model. I am not 100% sure but I think the 2015 VFC's now come with mosfets pre installed. Krytac already has excellent ones pre installed into them.
The body builds for both are excellent and will hold up for years. My VFC Sopmod was bought in 2011 and externally has held up amazingly since. Just tighten any screws and check for wobbling parts that aren't tight after every couple of games or weeks, and don't thrown it around to much as well store it properly and you'll cut down on surface scratch's. Everything else on the one you pick to buy just replace it as it breaks on you or as needed.

The differences between the 2012 and 2015 version are an improved piston, improved tappet, bearings instead of steel bushings, and a MOSFET.

If you are capable of swapping the piston and tappet on a 2012 VFC as well as installing a MOSFET, then you might as well get that one.

I had the same predicament earlier this year and went with the krytac. Love the gun and shoots awesome on 7.4 and is a beast on the 11.1 lipos. Also the stock on the krytac is awesome for battery space, probably one of the better ones I have seen. Would highly recommend one to anyone who enjoys the sport.

If possible, get a VFC IAR which is a 416 but with a few modifications. It can serve as a rifle or supporting weapon.

I have the limited edition in tan color, which runs very well right out of the box, and very cool looking as well.

Yeah, I've decided to go with the newer version black hk416 (asian version) by vfc. I am going to install the gate merf 3.2 mosfet to give me more control. I appreciate all the feedback.

Cheers,

Is the MOSFET in the new line of VFC guns a good one?
Is it reliable and performing?

I've asked a few retailer about the new hk416 and new so called mosfet ready vr 16's. None comes with pre-installed mosfet and yes they are the new 2015 version.
