Sea Cans and player safety..>Looking for opinions<

Recently Here at LZ Ottawa we have added several Sea Cans to one of our areas of the field.

This has presented a rather interesting problem that I would like to present to the community at large and see how you guys would deal with it.

We are having problems of people trying to clear the cans by entering and blasting away...We understand the heat of the moment takes over and some people seem to lose their minds and forget basic safety rules.

We need a set of rules that people can safely use but is practical for the game.
We are tossing around the idea of using Thunder B Sound devices...but this is an added cost to the players. We like this idea for it's safety and practicality and will probably use it as an option available to the players...

But we need a few more.

I.E
Pistols only in the sea cans?
Semi Only.on stock guns (350fps)

What do you think?

Each sea can has a dividing wall inside. Also each window can be closed by game staff..

I would do pistols only. I know we have done the Semi only in the Killhouse forever, but I have seen several guys go full auto in the heat of the moment. At least pistol it is a little more controlled.

yeah Ex, pistols only, with a certain fps, since some will now shoot around 400 and over.

Pistols, too easy to bump the switch to full happy on something bigger.

Here is the real issue I see Ex, say you do allow only pistols. Player A is inside container and is shooting out of them. Player B wants to get player A out of container so he sneaks up and draws his pistol and enters. Player A turns around and blows player B out of his shoes cause he already is on auto.

I think in order for it to be safe for both parties you need to restrict fire to semi.

Simple.
Restrict it to Bursts only. If someone goes full auto. You escort them off the field for the day.
Eventually the point will get across and people will behave.

Not everyone has a pistol. And again. Buddy shooting inside has burst. So why should the attacker be stuck using a pistol.

Dude, military does not go into sea cans with out a grenade first, because they are there to Kill. Thats what Army does.
Police go in with a Flashbang and loud shouts, to Arrest. Thats what Police do. If you are in the Can and shoot at a Cop you will get lit up.
I'm not saying this is a solution but its may be concept to build on.
Cheers

I know in your mind you guys think it's simple..trust me it's not.

Clearing the buildings can be pretty harry and its very easy to let loose a burst to the face. It happened a few weeks ago and one of the worst bleeders I've seen in Airsoft occurred to both shooters.

All food for thought guys..keep the ideas coming.

IMO, the best option is education.

We had similar problems a couple of years ago at the shopping mall: people getting bogged down trying to enter rooms, blind firing, trying to clear room with spray fire, etc; but it's not because of any ill intent on behalf of players, CQC is extremely technical and someone needs to teach people how to properly attack these obstacles. After a one day CQB clinic, all participants were on an entirely different level than at the start of the day.

You can restrict it to pistols, semi, low fps, fucking distress strobes and wide angle rear view mirrors, if people don't know how to properly tackle a tight engagement like that you'll eventually end up with some clusterfuck or another.

So IMO you either elevate peoples' games or you dumb everything down to the lowest common denominator and hope for the best.

I agree with Drake.

I have the same problem with my buildings and bunkers. In the heat of battle you don't always have the option of grenades, pistols and sometimes not even changing from auto to semi. Everything goes really fast and accidents happen because your so close to the opponent.

You cant change physics. Your only option is to either put some distance between the players or reduce the fps by having a large clearly marked area where it's pistol/ shotgun/ grenade only. If you do, players will police each other reminding one another to use the right weapon. Semi rules are impossible to enforce properly because you don't see the infraction until it happens.

I think there is a universally easy way to deal with this.

Mitigate it by restricting CQB weapons to 350fps with .2g BBs and prohibit blind firing.

Gun 351fps or more? Don't enter the CQB situation. To do so is a safety infraction and out here nothing gets me to toss an ass off the field faster than pointless risks to safety.

If you use thunder b's in the sea can make sure those windows stay open. If you close them that 120-130 dbs will reverberate and could cause hearing damage. I think the potential for permanent damage to ones hearing out ways getting bruised up by 10+ bbs. We may love this sport and the aspect of authenticity but safety first as always. IMHO

Yep, before doing it with ThunderB grenades, make sure the sound doesn't make anyone's ears bleed.
