Patches - Letter/Number Codes

Can anyone shed some light onto the meaning of the Letter/Number Codes I see on some velcro patches.

For example the AR35 & A25 patches in the below image;

If my guess is right, its probably to identify your team members easier over radio comms instead of saying their name?

As far as I know, that's about it. Members of group/team/squad Alpha for evample will be given a callsigns in the following manner:
Alpha 1
Alpha 2
Alpha 3

With alpha being Phonetic alphabet for A, you would see it written as:
A1
A2
A3

This just carries over to other letters as well, look up phonetic alphabet if you want to see what it'd sound like in radio or vocal chatter

Call-sign/Zap tags are worn in place of a name tape.

Each soldier is given a specefic number that is unique to them and used by them only in the unit.

Name tapes on uniforms tend to get covered up by armor/gear - the tags on the sleeve allow for the soldier to be identified by a specefic number.

A lot of the operations are recorded by video cameras- when the tape is reviewed, the soldiers can be identified by their specific number.

If you are interested in your own personal call-sign velcro patch, I make both 3M reflective and IR patches in a multitude of different camo and colour options:

+1 on Perroz Designs Patches I love mine.

I bought mine so it is easier people recognize me via radio and to call me over in the field. Amongst the dozens of other people wearing multicam.
