yup, my buddy has one. there very clear for a Gen. 1 but they are BIG. they have 2 threaded holes on the bottom (top?) to attach to a tripod or magiverd PVS 14 NVG rifle mount. The IR illuminator is decent, it is a flood light not a pointer so you wont get improved range off it but in low ambient light it works fantastically.

Hope this helps

So likely would still need a seperate illuminator to get the most out of this then?
Starting to seem like too much crap to cary lol.
I just want it for basic observation like "there over that direction light em up" but its starting to look more n more like ima have to bite the bullet and buy
something expensive lol
Yes that was helpfull

You'd be supposed at the clarity of the image you'll see at 100m. The illuminator is for 0 light or extremely low light. A clear sky with no moon is still bright enuff for the nvd to pick up almost every detail.
My honest opinion is get one or a more compact 1x that's roughly the same price and mount it on a rifle. If you need zoom then stick a scope infront of it. I do this with an ACOG and a bushnell nvg and it works grate. Also bbs reflect ir very well and act like tracers that only you can see. It's very effective.

Russian civillian NV's have a bad rep

Gen 0 is sold as Gen 1

Gen 1 is sold as gen 2

I'm sure Russian Gen2 is sold as Gen 3

Heck one Civillian Gen 2 scope had 2x Gen 1 tubes. I guess Gen 1 + Gen 1 =gen 2

So by Russian logic my NSPU with 3x Gen 1 tubes is gen 3 ?

Get military scopes or buy gen 2 my 2 cents... and I have Cold war era starlight devices. It doesn't get any cheaper than that both my goggles and scopes won't get me a gen 2.

My local crappy tire has em in stock.
Im thinking for the size of it ill probably keep browsing for either something simaler but smaller or just keep saving my pennies.
Id really rather just get a good nv scope or some real gen2 nods then to he disapointed with a 300 doller paperweight lol.
Also i see a diferent nightowl on the clasifieds for 180 bucks so if im gonma grab cheap crap i may as well get it really cheap lol
Edit i see there are two now one for 150 one for 180.
Again not that model but they are all simaler crap as far as i can see
