Prometheus vs PDI
I'm looking into buying a new inner barrel for my primary. I'm not sure if I should go with a PDI stainless steel 6.03, a Prometheus 6.03, or if there's much of a difference?

Both are excellent barrels. Some prefer one brand over the other, but personally I haven't seen a difference in performance between the two. I buy either brands depending on availabilty and price.

Both are fine, one of the major differences is the window for the barrel. For example, it is easier to r-hop a Prometheus bridged barrel.

Both are good
Prometheus is cheaper and is easier to RHop, and reportedly has better concentricity in the bore. PDI has better quality control and has a better manufacturing process that gives better straightness. It is also made of better steel. It is possible that PDI 6.03 is more consistent than their 6.01, 6.05, and 6.08 offerings because it is a new offering, so their tooling should be newer. In the end the difference in performance does not seem discernable to the naked eye. I use PDI now because of the better quality control, material, and straightness. |
