HSGI Weesatch or TAG Plate Holder

I've been searching to buy a new sets of gear once I go back to the States.

For now, HSGI Weesatch seem to be the best choice. The price went up 20$ the last time I've checked. (160 - 180$ from optactical.com)
However, I got another setup as well:

TAG Plate Holder http://www.lightfighter.com/istar.as...umperpage%3D28

with two SO tech Shingles on it http://www.optactical.com/shingle.html

This will give a Warhammer Hybrid Assault Vest(http://www.lightfighter.com/istar.as...6dept%3DGUNSTO) style look.

What do you guys think? Should I just get the HSGI Weesatch? Or get the TAG plate holder + 2 So Tech Shingles.

Other optional pouches will follow as well.

I know Adrian had a Weesatch and you could contact him about it. I wouldn't recommend the SO Tech shingles. I have 2 of them on my Callahan and because I'm not a large frame guy (only a waist 32), I have problems fitting the end pouches with mags. I can only fit 4 mags in a 6 mags setup because it's too tight to fit the other 2.

Something else you might consider is a company called Diamondback Tactical. The Battlelab Fast Attack RACK is a super peice of rig and it's about the same price range as the Weesatch. Raven is using one and one day when I get the chance, I'll be buying one too. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/diamondb...fasatracw.html

-_-

Bruce, by any chance, will the SO Tech Shingles fit g36 magazines?

I know shinjit told me that the weesatch internal pouches will fit the g36 mags, so weesatch is probably still my best choice.

Farmboy, thanks for the offer, I will keep that in mind. I might get it from you before going to the States.

IIRC, TAG was making a 5x2 layer shingle unit. I heard about this the first time I saw photos of the TAG plate carrier. I don't know if it actually went into production.

No way. It's already a tight fit for the Armalites mags. Sorry.

Seems to me that if you want to save money to just go with the Weesatch, but you will sacrifice some PALS space that you would be getting if you bought the TAG plate carrier.

Another point is that the 'satch is more open than the TAG, especially under the arms which will help alot with breathability (because lets face it, most games happen during spring, summer, fall). The back panel is also able to carry a hydration pack, but it may or may not interfere with plates if you wear them.

Whichever direction you take, you should definetly check out the Lightfighter forums and their sale section. You can get all sorts of gear barely used for excellent prices, and I think someone does have the TAG vest for sale.

So far it is only a 2, 4 and a 6 with MOLLE.

I highly recomend that whichever way you go, get an external hydration pouch. This prevents the vest/carrier from changing size as you drink water.

Yes and just for reference the BHI STRIKE hydration pouch doesn't fit "centered" on the back panel, so stay away from that one. BHI made theres different enough to throw a fuck into me....

Sorry for bringing back an older thread, but I had a question about the sizes of the weesatch mag pouches, would they hold AUG mags or would they be too big?

Anyways thanks for the help

^^

Shinjit tried the G36 mag in the internal pouches. It fits.
So theres no doubt that aug mags will fit too.

I actually bought Adrian's Weesatch setup.

The double M16 mag pouches in there do fit G36 mags. But not the end pouches. I have no plate in there currently.

I can fit 4 G36 mags in the setup to start with and purchased 2 double G36 mag pouches from Jaws on ASC or Ice Tactical I believe who they are. Great price and works excellent (well at least in my basement, lol).

for the Weesatch, the front 4 mag pouches can hold any type of mag from m16 to m14 to ak47, it will hold aug mags and anything else thats of that size. the two pouches at the very end are for a radio or smoke grenade, I use it as a holster for my P14. try to get the replica sapi plates to if you get the weesatch.
