vest/ chest rig color?
What type of color would you use for your chest rig/vest?
EDIT: For multi BDU I meant by different environment suited BDU. Like Artic, Forest, Urban, and Desert. my defn of multi BDU DOES NOT mean Temperate CADPAT, Temperate Flecktarn, Temperate MARPAT Last edited by kullwarrior; January 25th, 2008 at 20:45.. Reason: speify what's multi BDU |

Uh.. kinda depends on the area. You'd want to match the color/camo too your enviroment.

I used to wear cadpat (on occasion still do), and swore by OD webbing. Then I got multicam, still used the OD for a bit (still have some stuff I won't change for another colour.............. because I'm not vain, already own and am used to the stuff, like my OD Camelbak and OD Blackhawk Omega IV holster, why buy new ones just to look like a shade of one) and started getting new gear in khaki colour. It's not as dark as "coyote brown", not as light as "coyote tan", and in some light takes on a slight OD colour. And it works well with multicam and cadpat, so I'm happy.

Go with OD for gear, it goes with pretty much everything. That way you can easily switch bdu camo and not have to get new gear.

Buy used. There's plenty of guys on EAR and Bravo that will buy gear over winter, try it once in spring and sell it if they don't like it. I bought lots of gear used, as long as it's not spray painted of crap like that and in good to excellent condition. Sometimes, you can save a bundle that way.
But coyote is as flexible as OD. I dare to say it is the new OD. Forget black, blue or those police/swat colours. They suck outdoors.

Black sucks outdoors, and this is coming from someone who wears ACU
ACU only goes well with ACU colors, either ACU (lol) or foliage green. Coyote brown, khaki and coyote tan make ACU stand out even more. Ideally you want the same camo LBV and BDU, the solid color LBVs are more for saving money (having an LBV that works with multiple camo's is considered saving money). Of course it depends what camo you want, and how realistic you want it. Fake vests are like 50$ but are obviously fake. Flecktarn webbing goes for like 30$ and each pouch is around 20$. Molle gear gets more expensive... |
