Decent priced, well made "Contractor" pants... with a neat twist

http://www.riggsworkwearbywrangler.c...ripstop/3W060#

I just bought a pair of these last week and seriously have worn them every day, I love them! They are the Riggs (by Wrangler) Ranger Pants. As you can see, I said "Contractor" meaning renovations, construction, etc. But these are damn good enough to use for an Overseas Security Contractor look if you want one.

I paid $42 for mine at Le Baron (incidentally I wear a size 34", could only find 36" and up, and with help of a belt fit me just fine, gives me extra space to tuck a few shirts in on colder days) but I'm sure a LOT of work wear places will either stock them or be able to order in some for you.

They are triple stiched, 10oz cotton rip stop material, double layers on the knees (ok, mid thigh to mid shin), and the pockets are well made and designed (rear ones are lined in 1000D Cordura). Only niggle for me is the hammer loop, it has gotten snagged on the handrail on my basement stairs, but hey, shit happens.

The "twist" is these pants change colours/shades, kinda like Multicam does, depends on the light. Normally they look like a medium khaki colour, in some light settings they look like a lighter colour tan, and other light settings they turn 'sage' (OD for those that don't know what sage colour is, US flight suit green colour). Here's is the normal khaki colour:

Now check out the different shades they turn depending on the light source:

I bought mine because I love cargo pants but the nature of my work sometimes (running wire through the interior of aircraft) can be a pain in the butt for wearing nice cargo pants, and getting the occasional stain from oil or hydraulic fluid, or a tear really pisses me off when my pants happen to be a $60 pair that I use for casual dress on occasion. And as has been for me the past year and a bit, I am buying stuff I can wear out and about, wear to work, and have some use in airsoft (lots of OD fleece, rainwear, etc. I have been buying.) Occasionally games are held around here where one or two teams must wear some solid colour pants with a camo top, or no camo at all (Contractors/Mercs/Etc.) This was my main reason for looking into these pants, something rugged that I won't mind getting dirty in, that will stand up to wear and tear from playing.

Oh ya, best thing about these pants? They come in shorts, as well as flannel lined versions too. Guess what I'll be buying in the next few months!

Either they will, or they will make you look like someone stood a frog on it's hind legs and put a pair of pants on it. If you are lacking in that area, no pair of pants can improve on it without a pillow or.................. underwear stuffing with tissue!

Skillers is the best work wear I've ever used. I pay about $80 or so for a pair of their work pants with knee pads, and I get about 1 1/2 years out of a pair, worn everyday. To put it in perspective, a set of Carhart pants ($70) will last me about 5-6 months max, and be in bad shape for a while before I pitch them. The best quality jeans last 3-4 weeks at most.

I would use them for airsot with no reservations, there are no BDUs out there that are as tough as these. They do use alot of Cordura in the areas that wear poorly in general, like pockets and knees. I work in commercial and industrial sites, and do alot of crawling around in areas with alot of steel and concrete. Very hard on clothing.

I enjoy my 5.11 covert Khaki's (I call them tacikhaki's : D). Hidden pockets are very practical, I gotta say. I might enjoy a pair of what you have as well, though... mmm. GOOGLE TIME.

Hehe, guys, I really only made this thread because these pants you can walk into a store and buy, not having to do mail order or anything (and the nature of changing colours)............ am jealous of those that live near SEALS though.

Ya, Merivale where it becomes Clyde. Keep in mind the sizes available, I had to get the woman to check in the back for something smaller than the 38" I had in my hands, she was only able to find 36". Not sure what your size is, but you might want to call ahead of time if only going for pants.
