machine guns and the gearbox

This may sound like the most noob question but I am a bit of a noob when it comes to machine guns and squad automatics and support gunner stuff.
I am trying to find a support/machine gun that uses a v2 gearbox.

I was thinking of converting one over with a polarstar fusion engine but can't seem to figure who makes one with a v2 gearbox in which I can replace it with.

And if someone has one of those machine guns with a dead gearbox, pm me

G&P 249 and G&P MK23 Stoner use a V2 mechbox....might be others, but those are the ones that come to mind.

Note...many other 249's do not use a V2....i.e. A&K/CA/etc

No other 249 uses a V2, only the G&P. Its also the best 249 out there
Don't use the MK23 since the mechbox is proprietary
And the only issues you'll run into is the trigger. The G&P 249 uses a standard V2 box but with a larger trigger

If I recall, the G&P m249 uses an autowinding ammo box right? I suppose I should post a wtb ad. Don't suppose any of you guys have a dead g&p m249 eh?

You don't want autowinding, g&p has a pressure switch that you can tie to the pistol grip that allows it to feed when YOU want it to

Could always transform an M4 with a shrike kit. Its incredibly expensive and round about but it would get you the support weapon with a V2...or just buy the G&P.

Get the P* M249 fusion engine?

Also, Gen3 FCU (mosfet equivalent in P*) has a doxmag control port to wire them instead... it's just a relay, but will wind the box only when firing.

Do this. There are so many people that are modding guns to fit V2 FEs when there are already FEs made to fit them...

I have a 240 FE, the FCU powers my boxmag just fine on the trigger pulls.

The 249 FE will also come with everything you need to setup the boxmag as well.

Look at the price difference, then look at the advantages of having a G&P
Better box mags
More reliable feeding
Bigger box mags
Tougher metal body
Superior AUG hop chamber
Already has a hole through the grip to run air line
Reinforced carry handle

I haven't looked but I think the price you save on the CA style P* is equal to the extra money you pay for a G&P, may wanna verify, But its your money!

Also, cobra, would it shock you to learn I'm the one who crafted your HK11 front end like 6 years ago? Lol
Was built entirely on a lathe, and I never had a chance to fully finish it =(
Notably, was going to add the charging handle and cut a LOT of weight off the gas tube

I have been eyeing the A&K Mk43 and according to sh0rty, the m249 gearbox doesn't fit in the mk43. But from the research I have done so far, the Mk43 gearbox is closest to a m249 than it is to a m240b. I just wonder how close it is and if it's a simple mod to do or if its nowhere near close to fitting. i don't mind doing a bit of dremelling if it is required to make it fit.
I realize that making a P* mk43 will probably cost me close to $1200 if not more but I just want to know if it will actually be doable.

But that being said... anyone have any dead m249 that they are looking to dump for a cheap-ish price?

Btw, the gearbox in the stoner isn't really proprietary... it's a V2, all it has are a couple of grooves in the front, aside from that, it's the same. 30 seconds and a dremel will be enough to get any V2 in there.

However, getting the box mag to wind on a P*, different story.
