Throat Mic

Hey has anyone ever tried this system? any thoughts?

I already have vox Radios with mics, but not a huge fan of the mics.

I dont use that exact Mic personally. but i do own and use a throat mic.
i find them rather comfortable, and the clarity is rather good this can vary model to model and placement of the mic on your throat. I've never used the VOX myself but i've heard its useful. just dont clear your throat or cough otherwise it'll start transmitting

Yeah it has a vox setting, I still tend to use PTT because you don't have to say something to make it key in.

With throat mics you get what you pay for. I researched them pretty extensively while re-stocking and found an almost unanimous opinion that the lower price models had very poor sound quality.

I've used throat mics before with my job as a paramedic and the most important thing I found is be careful of the placement of the mics on your throat. That will take a little practise befor you get it right. On a related note here is a good supplier on ebay, quick service and took a return (I ordered the wrong plug) without any problems. http://myworld.ebay.com/happyhamshop/
Yep you can pay $100+ for a professional one or get something that fits the budget for the time to time game. I'm going to try my new mic at OPP Pine Plains in NY and will let you know how they work

I tried two types of troat mic and I did not like them.
The NT sniper II and another one made for paintball that had very good reviews.

Both had poor performace.
Mainly because the neck strap was not able to keep the sensors on the right spot.

And a BDU with the ACU type colar will constantly displace your mic or won't fit at all.

Does anyone have any feedback on the in-ear units that pick up spoken words based on bone conduction?

To get a quality one that actually works well is sizable investment.
