got a question for you aussie gear people, is there any specific reason why this guy has 550 cord through the loops on hit bush cap?, or is it just that its a convenient place to put it.

maybe its because the boonie is too big and thats the only way to make it hold?

It is a very simple system for carrying 2 3 meters of paracord and not many Australian soldiers used this system.

This way of carrying paracord is a left-over custom from Australia's involvement in the Vietnam war. When the Australian were operating togetherwith US forces, they ( the ozzies) would put white or coloured paracord around the crown of their giggle hats ( bush hats) as not to be mistaken for the VC who wore similar head gear.
Seems the custom has stuck around, except for the colour.

isn't kit that i have (i have some of this but not all).

This is only all NSN for Land 125 DPCU molle vest and NSN for new (mich stile) australian helmet.

I hope that this help other collector of Aussie items
