Gun Cams(HD preferably)?

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for an HD gun cam that I can mount under my pistol, which has a 20mm rail.

I've so far found nothing. ContourHD looks promising for the price and quality but there is no rail adaptor for it.

Anyone know a good one?

You will need to build your own mount.

The contour is great out doors in a sunny area, it has poor quality in low light/indoors.

And I used a gun cam for a while. I got a lot of angled floor shots.

Youll get tired quick always walking with your gun pointed up.

Helmet cam is a much better idea. (and contour will do that)

But to each there own.

Sorry wasn't much help with your Q but just giving my personal experiance with it

Spy Cam Style and a Flashlight mounting ring. Low cost, however its 640 Resolution. But on the plus side it is a functional flashlight.

He makes it seem pretty good, from what I can tell though you would have to be careful with how you attached the rings. You wouldn't want to block the buttons now would you?

I paid $99 for a Creative Vado HD. It has a wide angle lens, 8GB internal and can film 30fps @ 720p for 2 hours

Go pro is nice but they are not small and compact so it will be bulky on the gun

They're tiny and they take normal high density SD cards. Only thing that sucks is wide angle lense makes close things appear much further away (and thus smaller)

I made this video with gopro hd and a canon a560. The gopro files were much clearer before being compressed onto youtube but you get the idea.

Are there cams that you can attach a remote switch to and turn on like a flashlight. Or is that going to take some custom work?

I don't know any that does, but it sure can be done easilly.

If you get something like the Contour HD, the "REC" switch is a large slider-type switch. If you open the case and add a second switch in parralel to it, with a little connector to remove it when not needed, you get a remote REC switch. You need a 2-pos switch that will stay on when placed on (don't want to have to hold the pressure pad while engaging and working your flashlight and aiming and reloading.

I love the Contour HD for these reasons:

-Can film for over 2 hours
-60fps at 720p or 30fps at 1080p
-Has a sliding power switch instead of a button (you flick it up and down)
-It's fine for low lighting despite what the other guy said.
-Slim, low profile
-Adjusts to different lighting very quickly
-Long battery life

That's just my personal opinion I've used my friends contour before, read reviews of it, watched videos of it being used, and I'm currently saving up to purchase my own!

I'm only 14 so funds are a bit of a problem to be completely honest however I'd love to upload some videos of gameplay at my local cqb arena for all of you guys in Canada.
