New VFC Scar L owner

I've purchased my first VFC, It's the scar L. It should be here next week.
I was hoping some of the experienced VFC Scar owners could tell me if there is anything I should do/upgrade on this gun right off the bat?
Should I change the hop rubber like on most guns or is the stock one decent enough? Anything else that should get swapped out/modded when I get it, before I game it?
Thank you.

I have two, they are very very good out of the box, you do not need to upgrade anything internally. Hop up is decent, but I use the A+ reaps rubber from airsoftparts.ca. I usually go by wait until somthing breaks then upgrade.

Any particular hardness of rubber? I will probably be leaving the spring the way it is as this will be my "outdoor" gun.

REAPS is crap. If you want to use a regular rubber (ie not Rhop) PDI W-hold is the way to go. But seriously, Rhop is like night and day.
The gun will be good in stock form. As far as VFC goes, you don't need to upgrade anything til it breaks, unless you want to go for a more high performance build. The first thing to go will be either the piston or tappet plate.

RHOP > PDI W hold > reaps.

rhop requires a fair amount of tweaking to get the best results, though the tweaks on the mech side should be done for any aeg (optimizing air seal)

I wonder what is the FPS of a stock VFC SCAR-L.
I got a used one, whatever spring I use, it shoots about 40-60 fps more than my other guns with same spring... Good airseal is a good thing, but it was hard to find a spring weak enough to make it comply with local field rules...

Only if you're doing it yourself
of the 16 I've done so far, only 2 have required tweaking, one of those was the rubber sleeve and not actually the Rhop

If your scar is shooting 40-60fps over on a given spring, it's not a problem with the scar, it's a problem with the other guns you're testing lol

weird, I've yet to have 1 where I didn't have to sand the inside radius.

Ran my scar stock hard for 2 years and nothing broke. I finally upgraded some of the compression parts, and the trigger contacts as they were starting to wear. This thing will serve you well for a loooong time!
Congrats

You made a great choice! I love that Airsoft

Always good to upgrade the inner barrel if you want a little bit more range and precision. Buy the replacement hinge for the stock if you find it, you might wait a long time to find one in stock. It's easy to replace if you have it on hand.

I think there are a few threads here about VFC SCAR-L and the few issues appear to be mostly about the very thin wiring; the excessive amount of wiring; and the limited battery space due in part to the excessive wiring. For that, you can remove the stock wiring and get proper length 18 gauge wiring so that the wiring isn't as brittle.

Another likely issue is the infamous V2 gearbox shell cracking after many rounds fired or cold weather usage. For that, you can prolong your gearbox shell's life by installing a sorbethane pad from http://www.airsoftstore.ca/index.php...pjflh5io2v2da1.

That being all said, there's no need to upgrade, maybe except for the easy PDI hop up swap. I run my SCAR-L stock with no upgrades and it's great, hasn't let me down.
