Suppressors restricted?

Ive been reading around the forums about suppressors, to my previous knowledge I believed that they were a restricted item.
But after I've heard many cases where guys have imported suppressors without it being seized and also hearing from people that they're hit and miss, I've started to question weather or not they are considered a restricted item.
I was hoping you guys could clear things up for me. Because if they aren't restricted I would really like to buy a couple from international retailers.

Thanks in advance =]

I understand. But what if it was just a metal tube?

Sound supressors are 100% legal in Canada. You just need the permit.

So is concealed carry. It is 100% legal.

Never mind that there are less than 150 people who have been granted that permit, and all are government employees. No civillian can get one.

Supressors are for all intents and purposes prohibited.

Real suppresors are "prohibited devices" in Canada, and, as the name suggests, are prohibited. I have wanted one for years. Not even for "bad purposes", I just wanted to be able to take off my ear guards while I was shooting. As for airsoft silencers, I have gotten four over the border. All had no silencing abilities. They didn't care.

Oh I see. So does that mean I can only get suppressors without foam?

What specific style are you looking for? Have you taken a look at sites like airsoftparts?

Umm yeah I've browsed places like airsoftparts and airsoftdepot
but I find that I more commonly order from sites like Redwolf and Ehobby so I thought if I could I would just get one from there

In my opinion, my favorite suppresor I have right now is a Madbull Gemtech Blackside. Official trademarks, serial numbers. Looks great on my glock, I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. Any of the Madbull Gemtech ones are pretty good. They come in tracer too and I think some from eHobby, Red Wolf etc will have foam.

Make your own? Just get the right materials and some sweet krylon fusion ultra mat paint and you're set. (tip: a metal tube works better than a pen tube. Mine bent and exploded) but I basicaly have this:
-metal tube about 8mm from a broken psi guage
-Female inverted threaded bolt
-2 washers that fit snugly over the tube
-Kleenex wrapped around the tube (tube has holes in it)
-1 PVC pipe to cover it all.

Just stick it together properly stuff is snug and fits properly and you're set.

Or you can go out and spend 10x the amount it costs for the materials and get a real one.

Meh! A diy suppressor will still look 'homemade' no matter how good a spray paint job you do to it. All mine are tracer units that double as suppressors and or an outer barrel extensions to hide a long inner barrel (with tracer functionality still intact)
