Can you elaborate on what you think the negative is?

I don't see the negative.

The idea is to throw everything at them in training so they stay frosty and maintain focus if/when the feces really descends. Better to freak fresh troops out at home than have them freak out over there when lives truly are at risk.

The place looks amazing, especially the powder explosions. Good reason to enforce sealed goggles.

You train for the impossible so the difficult seems routine.

Or so the logic goes.

Personally I figure if this approach to training helps in any way shape or form. giver.

Sorry but that's kind of vague, much like the comment regarding negative effects of this type of training. Expand on what scenarios would never happen in the "real world".

A lot of airsofters would ball up into the fetal position and cry like a baby if they went through something like that...

Any idea how they get someone to "act out" a blown-off leg?

It really looked as though that person was missing his legs. Did they use a real-life amputee or something?

According to some dude on MP.net who said he was there, yes. I guess that in most cases, these actors are veteran who were injured in combat themselves.

But.. seriously, these effects are really fucked up. Like the blown up head or ripped off stomach.... shit.

Wow, this is amazing. I can see how this will give soldiers the best training possible in order for them to do any job. Everything is realistic, without real death. This must cost hundreds of millions to run, maybe even billions.

Is that really the cost? or is that just a guess.

It would be interesting to know the cost. Having 50+ Actors/Staff/Technicians probably would cost quite a bit, combine the cost of the makeup/set decoration/pyro, etc. I'm kind of thinking it'll be a lot more.

But for us lowly airsofters that would defnitely be an experience and a half to participate in.

A lot of those actors are volunteer. Mostly it would be the pyro that ups the cost would be my guess.
