I was rereading this thread and the figure of $1000 given near the beginning is pretty accurate. So far, I've put just over $950 into my C8 project, although that also included some internal performance upgrades and a tightbore barrel. I still need to get the heavy outer barrel, which will take me to about $1050 or so.

You're not the only one pumping dough into your C8

Can't wait to do the C7A1. Will be a lot cheaper. All I need is a C7 metal body, and I've got a winner. Not too much more to it than that. I was planning on doing the C7 first, but with needing to replace the stripped gears in my M4, the availability of C8 bodies, etc, it was more convenient.

does anyone have a clue where one could find a frontsight like this?

I've looked high & low & turned up nothing, a couple of blokes seem to have mocked up this style using miliput but if I can get a 'proper' verion I'd prefer it.

I didn't really think so? The Diemaco version seems reinforced around the barrel

Canadian C7/C8's do not have that reinforced front sight thing, just go with standard M-4 sight. the pics above are european customers of Colt Canada.

only bad thing about the Army Code barrel is that the m203 sleeve is all wrong

That's why most countries using the SFW also use the UGL (L9A1) for grenades.

Crunch, i'm suprised that huangs cf body fit your gun, you got lucky. One of the guys on my team ordered one or two of his bodies and they were both shit that didn't fit at all, were poorly made, etc. That's sweet that it worked out fine, though, cause I would want to purchase one. Did you use the body for your CA or TM?

Yeah, the body fit fine with all my TM internals and externals. No issues whatsoever, The only fit problem I encountered was the magazing well was way too tight and had to be sanded. The only mags that would fit were my TM and CA hi-caps, and my G&P Thermold. None of my other low and mid-caps would fit without essentially beating on the mag to insert it, then pulling like crazy to remove it. Once I got the mag well sanded down, everything was fine.

That being said, it's readily apparent that my CA metal body if of much higher quality than anything from DBoys. But to date, I've had no other issues except the mag well, which is now permanently repaired.

But it's not like we have a whole lot of other choices for C8 metal bodies.

Well, I'm 2 small steps closer to cosmetic completion of my C8A2 today. I installed a King Arms ambidextrous mag release. I'm right-handed, so don't really NEED it, but for $14, it's nice to have the right look. I also installed one onto my M15 rifle, bringing it one step closer to cosmetic completion as well. I also installed the buffer-tube mounted rear sling loop. That's both for cosmetic and functional purposes.
