Wouxon KG-UVD1P not transmitting

Good afternoon,
I hope this is the correct location to ask this.

My Wouxon KG-UVD1P radio will no longer transmit comms to other radios. It will however receive. I have tried it with multiple headsets and ptts, as well as by itself. It stopped transmitting at an event. I believe I had forgotten to lock the keypad.

My question is: is there a setting on my radio that has disabled the transmitting function, or is it broken?

The "English" manual on Wouxon's website was not of much help and I couldn't find any threads on here.

Thank you

If it's of any help, someone online translated their english to something more readable:

I don't think there's a function that totally shuts down all transmitting all at once.
May I ask what band you were transmitting in when it stopped working.
I read some where the farther out of band you transmit the harder on the radio it is.
Look up SWR meter. Oh was your radio set on high or low power.?

Is your issue resolved?

If not, does your radio block the airwaves when you press the transmit button?
If so, it may be an electrical problem with your radio's sound component or it may be a problem with the transmitter part if it doesn't. If you can't resolve it with the manual. Open your radio and check for oxydation of connectors.

High power is 4/5 watts and low power is 1 watt and 1 watt is plenty for use with talk abouts on the field you would use the high power setting if you needed to get more range.
Combo of High power & out of band you mite have fried your transmitter.

Do you have an FRS radio that you can use to test with? If so, I can tell you how to enter in a frequency manually to test with, but we would need an FRS radio so we know what frequency to program on your Wouxun.

I played around with the radio a bit and thanks to the help on here i was able to send and receive with the radio. However, I can neither send or receive with my headset and ptt. I'm using this would be a hardware issue?

I would guess its the pin connector try pressing it in a little harder. If not it could need a cleaning. I can only guess at trouble shooting your radio over the net.

If your radio is working and your PTT and headset is not, then the it's obviously your PTT or headset that needs to be replaced.

For the most part, our team's radio communication needs are handled by our military surplus 77 sets. From time to time, though, we still use our personal Wouxun tactical radios. Here is a table of our recommended settings for those devices:

Menu 1 "STEP" "1250K" For compatibility with FRS/GMRS units.

Menu 2 "SQL-LE" "4" Don't set this level too high or you'll miss weak transmissions.

Menu 3 "SAVE" "ON" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 4 "TXP" "HIGH" Always transmit at highest power setting.

Menu 5 "ROGER" "OFF" Leave this off for quiet functioning.

Menu 6 "TOT" "30" Ends transmissions after XXX seconds. 30 seems about right.

Menu 7 "VOX" "OFF" Always leave voice activation set to off!

Menu 8 "WN" "WIDE" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 9 "VOICE" "ENGLISH" Unless you understand Chinese, select English.

Menu 10 "TOA" "2" Warns XX seconds prior to Menu 6 cut off.

Menu 11 "BEEP" "ON" Probably best to leave this on.

Menu 12 "PONMSG" "OFF" Setting to off provides most useful display of info.

Menu 13 "BCL" "OFF" Proper comms technique makes this redundant.

Menu 14 "AOTOLK" "OFF" For efficiency, leave this off.

Menu 15 "R-CTCSS" "OFF" Not useful for our purposes.

Menu 16 "T-CTCSS" "OFF" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 17 "R-DCS" "OFF" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 18 "T-DCS" "OFF" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 19 "SC-REV" "CO" Useful only when scanning frequencies.

Menu 20 "PF1" "LAMP" Sets function for side key. Display backlight on.

Menu 20 "PF1" "RADIO" Sets function for side key. Allows FM radio reception.

Menu 21 "CH-MDF" "FREQ" I could be wrong about this. Will update.

Menu 22 "ABR" "ON" Display backlight on at start up.

Menu 23 "OFF-SET" "00,600" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 24 "SFT-D" "OFF" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 25 "SECOND" "OFF" Not useful for our purposes.

Menu 26 "CHNAME" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 27 "MEM-CH" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 28 "DEL-CH" No idea on this one. Left at default setting.

Menu 29 "RESET" "VFO" Leave this one alone!

Menu 30 "SCN CD" "CTCSS" Leave this one alone!

Note: Menu item #20 is a personal preference..., but, given the number of night games we play, you may want to keep the backlight function on this key.

Did you try fiddling with the pin connector.? Some time's on the Wouxun they need to be pressed in really good. try holding it in while you try to transmit.

I was also looking up J-pole antenna's and mite be able to custom make some 1 meter blade antenna's with 1-1/2 foot cord for the Wouxun once I pick up an SWR meter.

With the ASC link from Zone 69 I was able to manually select a frequency to transmit to an old handheld radio. My wouxun transmits clearly on its own, however with the headset it blocks the airwaves but does not transmit comms. going to have to try some different headsets
