Don't worry. A lot of owners of Contour here. Mine still works so no reason to dump it.

If you do determine the battery is toast. No worries. Previous owners may have used it a lot and the battery has reached its charge cycles. Just replace the battery.

Sweet, thanks for the advice. I'll clean the contacts and see if that makes a difference.

You could always make do with that and an external battery pack. Also, might as well check and clean the battery contacts (in the camera). Could be as stupid as that

Yep, everything is fine once I plug it into my computer via USB to charge. I think Contour is back in business, I read online that a private investor bought the company and revamped it.

Just FYI if you didn't already know, Contour has closed it's doors so it's stuff is harder to find their stuff now. So if you need a battery you may be stuck with ACM stuff off of ebay.

I stopped by FutureShop this morning & picked up a new battery (last one in stock for them I think, it was sitting all alone with no price tag - $45 for it LOL WTF). I'm charging it right now, and if it works I'll be returning it and buying 2 new ones off Ebay for the same price. Thanks a ton for the help.

Dump it back on the seller. Those cameras brick; and while Contour are restarting their business I can't see you as a 2nd owner being high on the "make this guy happy" list of things to do.

Yes. I plug my Contour+ into an external 5V power pack to power and maintain the charge while it is still recording.

Definitely going to ship it back & get a full refund. This is what he emailed me this morning:

I admit that had sat around doing nothing for a couple of years. My daughter never used it so I decided to sell it. I apologize for not testing it as I assumed it still worked since it was working when i stored it.

Isn't it common sense to try something out first though... SMH.

Unfortunately the camera isn't recording even when plugged in...

I've decided to return the camera for a full refund after testing it out with a brand new battery purchased today. Still refuses to turn on, record, etc. A guy on a cycling forum had the same problem wth his Contour+, and was told by Contour that it was a "dead" camera (he left it on the shelf for ~2 years before using it again). All they gave him was a 10% off compensation from Contour for a new camera, LOL.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I am going to upgrade to a Replay camcorder very soon. Smaller than a Contour and GoPro. Looks like a flashlight if you mount it on your gun!
