Of cutting and rethreading barrel

Hi people,

So I got a small mistake in a gun order and ending up with a full size G39 which in the end is probably going to be a little bit better than just a K.
I want to cut the barrel to 14.5 inches, not an issue but I also want to rethread it to the standard 14mm CCW.

Question is : I know what to use in term of tool (I'll go for a manual one) but what is exactly the one I should use for or regular M4 flash hider ?

PS : yes I'm a gun doc and no I'm not born with universal knowledge, I won't say the name of the retarded kikoolol who PMed me, he'll reconize himself...

generally you use a 14x1 counterclockwise die. I tried once, but you need to make sure you cut them straight, but a shorter flash hider won't affect it as much, but for silencers, it might bounce around inside.

It's better to take it to a machine shop and let them do it. The threads need to be snug within the flash hider, and straight. For the cost of the die, you can have it professionally done.

The only tool you should be using to rethread an outer barrel, is a lathe... and maybe a die. There is no manual tool to do a good job of it.

I have a small part I'd need rethreaded from 14mm+ to 14mm-, similar to an MP7 adaptor like this:



(It's for a G&G G19 silencer adaptor)

Instead of having the threads barrel side on the inside, they are outside.

Since this is a darn small part, I'm not too clear if this can be done.

Ideas?

I did that for my GHK AKM, cut down from stock length and threaded it for 14+. But I have access to a lathe, so all I did was buy a die from McMaster Carr and did the rest....

Dies for 14 x 1 mm ccw run about 225$ with a six month delivery delay...

Sell the barrel and buy a new one. Machine shops will probably charge betwine 50 and 100 for 1 barrel. Ccw threads are a bitch

If you take it to a machine shop, they probably have a thread cut capable lathe and won't bother with a die.

$50 is what I'd expect, M14x1 is a less common but standardized fine pitch thread

Do you have a 14x1 CCW tap as well? If so, I have one of these flash hiders that needs to have the threads cleaned up as it binds when I attempt to install it on a barrel. I have a bad feeling that the flash hider may have SAE threads so I'm not even sure if what I'm requesting is possible.
