I put the good stuff on the real guns. You think a PTW with toys is expensive, try a real AR with real ARMS, EoTech, Mags, grips, ammo and lots of it, bolts, parts and maintenance items.

I could buy 2 PTWs for the money in my Bushmaster. And I rarely use the damn thing.

If I had your money, all my guns, real and PTW, would have the good toys. But I'm just a simple electrician trying to make my way!!!

Every AR in existence is a money dump. That's a fact.

I cant get on to arnies from work right now and I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the long term durability of the PTW?

I know this sounds crazy - very crazy indeed - but I am still looking for a reliable platform to build a SAW. Every AEG "SAW" out there uses the same stupid internals that just cant be used like a SAW. They also cost the same as a PTW. Wouldnt it make sense to just get a PTW and build a Shrike type kit on it?

I say this because I have heard that the MAX kits are vitually indestructable, and that is exactly what a SAW is supposed to be. FYI my local field regs for SAW are 450 FPS (w/ .2's) max fps, so I could "down tune" the MAX guns and it should increase durability right?

Sorry, Illusion. It can't as of yet. The PTW needs an upper with real-steel dimensions and so far HK won't sell their 416 upper to civilians. The airsoft kits are the wrong dimensions and won't fit a PTW.

But the good news is you can buy a real upper (Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt) for about $200 (stripped) new and only a few small mods are required to fit it to a PTW. Some guys in Europe do real steel uppers and lowers on PTWs. We can't do lowers here because they're the restricted item under the Firearms Act. You don't even need ID to by an upper.

How did you fit your CASV on, if it's a King Arms airsoft one?

The top rail and barrel nut are the same for most airsoft and real steel. The body and grip are fattened a little to accomodate the mechbox and motor.

I can fit the KA CASV on a real AR with no trouble at all. Real uppers and lowers can be modified to fit the PTW mechbox and cylinder kit. They are too narrow for all other airsoft guns.

So what prevents being able to fit an airsoft front end kit (say for example and SPR kit) on to the PTW receiver?

You can fit an SPR RAS, but the outer barrel for an AEG has far too small an inner diameter to fit a PTW inner barrel. You could use a 20" PTW barrel, get a real steel gas block from Armalite, GG&G, or whoever, but the SPR flashider (real or airsoft) would need to be drilled out to accomodate the PTW inner barrel.

I have a Metal Tech M16-length RAS on my M16A3, and with the replacement of the front sight tower with a gas block and an SPR flashider is all I'd need to give it the SPR look.

And Wey, go to a gun shop like TSE and ask for a stripped AR upper. They will know what you are talking about. You should pay about $200 and will get just the upper, no bolt carrier, barrel, barrel nut or carry handle. Alot of guys sell complete uppers with barrel, etc for about $600-$800.
