Only need to install a hard rubber in the hop up. Even at 500fps and using my M24 every game (plus lots of testing and target shooting at home), I only had to replace my Guarder clear rubber every 6 months. Since I switched to harder rubbers, I haven't had to replace yet except for different rubber set testing.

Still, you bring up a very good point, hop up rubber choice is paramount to any sniper rifle upgrade. Currently I'm using the KN RH65 rubber in my rifle and it's working well. Avoid any rubber made of silicon, it'll not perform overly well.

Will a heavier BB significantly reduce the impact load on the piston head when using a hot spring? Just wondering if heavier rounds will also have the added benefit of increasing the longevity of the internals.

Sounds like yo uare thinking too much into things, more than you should even get into the area of worrying about. Heavier BBs will move slower down the barrel than lighter ones, and will allow the air behind the BB to compress more, which would reduce the impact of the piston/head. Same as you hear in AEGs when trying different weights of BBs, the heavier you go, the duller the sound the pistonhead makes. Lighter makes a tick, tick, tick sound, heavier makes a dull tock, tock, tock sound.

So, in my mind, yes, heavier can increase longevity due to the compressability of the air behind the heavier BB.

Good stuff. Shitty I found out after you were at the Muskoka game, never got a chance to meet you (might have been near you through, depends on the team you were one and what social things we attended after).

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Don't think we ever bumped into eachother. Ah well, next game.

My old baby...

The new baby (TM VSR-10) is still a work in progress... I can't decide between a zero trigger or a V trigger though...

I wish I knew a little more about it... I've tried reaserching... but nothing really popped out at me.

With the V trigger You're able to use the PDI Vaccume Pistons or whatever they're called... From what I've read I think this allows for an easier bolt pull and push back (The Upgraded VSR-10 I used's bolt push was actually significantly harder than the pull)

But I'm not sure.. I'm a VSR-10 noob.
