Mindblowing superhydrophobic (water repellant) and oleophobic (hydrocarbon/oil repellant) coating

I've seen some water resistant coatings before but this stuff is unbelievable, check the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=IfUaKXasdD4

it would be interesting to try coating AEGs with this stuff... Actually pretty much everything in an airsoft setup. Rig, clothes, etc.

Would be damn awesome to coat all my bdus and gear in that. Too bad it gives them a whiter colour. (look at the boots at the end)

That stuff is crazy. Might have to try that on an old BDU to test for whiteness.

The boots were off color but the gloves seem to hold there color in the vid.

Nice, but pretty expensive. For 1 qt, $53 for the bottom coat and $96 for the top coat.

I wonder if this is more or less the same thing as Hydrophobic Sand(Scotch Guarded Sand)...

read the flyer.
The laundry will knock that shit off your pants in a cycle or two.

They've come up with a really fantastic coating,
now they need the multi - million dollar application.

Airsoft anything is not it lol.

Very cool application of new technology, coating my desert boots to make them water proof would be interesting and not affect the colour significantly.

Application seems a bitch, I would hate to see what would happen to a body if you ingested it or breathed it in before it dried

How does it affect the breatheability of fabrics?

Im going with it affects it in the worst possible way.

I bet you it would have less breatability then a garbage bag.

If I can put that on my car, I would never have to wash it again. It would not get wet or rust because road salt would not stick to it.

Its the same idea as a DWR coating expensive jackets get from TAD and Arceryx. The coating will wear off in time and needs to be re applied with Nikwax or other DWR repellants.

The Magnum sidewinders have a IonMask treatment as they call it and I have yet to get mine to leak through in the couple years I have been wearing them. I wear them all year round. The boots are also breathable so go figure. Air can go through a smaller hole then water.

To me that is the number one thing they should market it for. Especially Canadian weather.

I don't see the market for clothing. If it wash off in 2 cycles -there's no point.
