Airsoft IED

So I have been thinking about the Rhino game at PRZ and realized that as an insurgent that I was missing 1 key tool for total anarchy an IED.

I do know that Claymores and Land mines exist but lets face it the Claymore is shotty at best as it flings the BBS at a person who trips it and can be in-effective against a vehicle and so is the land mine as we cant dig into solid pavement.

I am tinkering with a prototype for an IED but have ran into a wall.... I have the power souce and trigger figured out using propane but it is the Kill indicator that has been stuck.

What I am looking for feedback on is what would the community agree is a legitmate Kill indicator for this type of device. Any Feedback is welcome good or bad.

Current Ideas are
TalcumPowder cloud
Launched red Flag
Paper Confetti(this will decompose after it is scattered)

I think a large explosion of talcum power/flour would make for a good effect

Something that uses a couple of Madbull kings shells would be neat.

Hot damn that was fast!

My issue is it must be somthing that
1. Will not harm the enviroment
2. not Harm a Player
3. be visable from 10-20 feet away.

The flour/powder idea is great but it is trying to get a large enough cloud that is the issue.

If vehicles are involved, avoid anything that will leave a dust cloud or that would obstruct their visibility.

Also some people are allergic to flour, and may have difficulty breathing afterwards. I know they have inert powders that would work well.

The military uses baby powder for their mock IED's unless you want a clown to pop out after confetti I would suggest against that.

Talcum or baby powder would be a good choice. It's easily washable out and can be banged out of most clothing & gear without too much difficulty. Avoid anything food-based, like flour; it will go gummy when mixed with moisture (sweat), and if you don't get it off your gear & weapons quickly, it'll gunk in place once moisture hits it. Also, flour can attract bugs & vermin. You could also add colour to the talcum/baby powder by grinding biodegradeable paint pigment down and adding it into the mix. Hobby shops (like Michael's) carries this kind of paint in a dried cake form.

Generating a large enough cloud would be an interesting design exercise. I imagine the design would be similar to that of the Mad Bull XMPB4 40mm grenade, but significantly larger in scope. Delivery system would be similar, though. However, at the "firing" end, instead of just an open hole, there would be a deflection plate (like a rain cap/china hat you see on some factory stacks). When the powder is discharged, instead of firing in one direction, the plate would redirect the powder and blast out at 90 degrees in all directions. With a large enough gas reservoir and enough powder, it should create a "blast" at least 15 feet in diameter. The noise of it going off would also be a huge distraction. Maybe power it on a 20 oz CO2 canister. Not certain how it would be triggered - IEDs are usually triggered manually at a distance. Sitting around waiting for a juicy target to stumble by wouldn't be much fun...

Anyway, just a thought...

Baby powder gets all over your gear and clothing, that would piss me off lol. Why not just bb's with a small smoke shot of some sort somehow. Not sure how id rig that up. Fields that allow pyro id honestly use a bunch of black cats bb's and something that would mock smoke.

I'm tempted to say cheap waterbased paint would be nice, especially bright red paint, basically something that can be washed out easily. Would not suggest paintballs: too much pain involved, plus they take more power to really work, so they'll go waay to far from the explosion.

If you use water, it's easy to damage alot of stuff- radios, electric guns, gas pistols. , not to mention: hard to see on cars and whatever doesn't soak in water.

I didnt think about the water mist damaging electronics or other gear. What the hell could you use then? everything is either bad for you, your gear, or the environment.

just use a confetti cannon...http://www.kaboom.com/30conf.html

alternatively, DIY it and use a Madbull XMPB4 and load it with confetti and use CO2.

confetti is biodegradable and could be swept up fairly easily.
