Official I hate Canada postal service thread!!!

For those looking to buy/sell and ship items, are there any good, reliable, and relatively cheap alternatives to Canada Post they'd be able to recommend? Fedex, UPS, and Purolator are all much more expensive than CP.

The FedEx quote I got was slightly more than CP. Try Canpar as well.

DHL and FEDEX are my go-to.

Regular ground for parcels is usually a few bucks more than CP regular anyways.

If "local", you can try smallish couriers (JoeExpress Delivery etc.)

actually last time I received a shipment from china via dhl I was very pleased with their level of service. I was called on the day it was supposed to be delivered and given an option to prepay the customs fees and authorize a drop off at my door, instead of having to deal with going to their depot to pay and sign. Their customs brokerage were slightly more than canada post, but still much less than ups, and the up front notification there were fees was honest unlike fedex, who has fair fees but they tell you there are no fees then invoice you 3 months later.

canpar and purolator have given me decent service as well for reasonable pricing.

fedex wanted 130$ to ship a small box worth 60$ ottawa to Connecticut, so fuck them.
fedex ground has more favorable rates.
ups is ups. Fuck them.

I went to a UPS store because of the impending CP strike. I had to ship a package to a customer, and it was only to Moose Jaw SK from where I am (Saskatoon SK), and normally it would be about $12-$14.

UPS gave me a quote of $40 and I said forget it and left.

Fedex seems to be giving decent quotes. Atleast comparable to Canada Post for a package I am sending out.

UPS charged me $80.01 for shipping a piece of paper and passport from Regina to Ottawa and back. I've had no bad experience with CP until recently, but still I want them back.
