Question Ics ak-74 ris

I'm looking to get a new AEG, and came across the ICS AK74 (on sale of CAD $250), I have researched it a bunch. Some sources say it's amazing, while others hate it. If anyone has experience with it or suggestions (looking for durable AK variant, in Canada, can't get AV'd), that would be much appreciated
(budget of about 250$)

(Lots of brackets in this :P)

Haven't really been able to find a CYMA in Canada, let alone full metal, and cheaper :P
The RIS is the only one in stock where i'm looking, and is minimal (2 rails on handguard)
I'll likely eventually upgrade to real wood at some point in the future anyways

(Really only concerned about any design flaws of the gun)

Eh, I'd suggest taking a CYMA over an ICS Ak for sure if $250 is your budget. Check Toronto Airsoft, they usually stock all the CYMA ak variants. Make sure you get the newest steel-body, VFC takedown version too.

Now looking at the CYMA CM042 (full metal, real wood, and the CYMA AKS 101 (CM031c)(metal + abs furniture) Are these both good choices?
Thanks for replies

Check out this link. It outlines all the CYMA Ak models and what take down they use.

Anything that uses the VFC style is what you want.

Ok, so I think i'm going either get the AK74UN (CM045A), or the AIMS PMC AK (CM050A)
Final question is, for outdoor games, would the PMC be noticeably more effective (range)?
(i'd eventually be able to put in a longer inner barrel + cover it with suppressor)

I suppose you'd have a very slight edge with the PMC but it doesn't make a giant difference in all honesty. I used to own a CYMA AKS74UN with a Madbull tightbore and a Guarder clear hopup rubber and that thing could reach out and touch someone.

If you plan to strap accessories and upgrade, at this point it seems to come down to just external tastes. I'd probably go with the PMC since you get rails with it already, however I also like the 74U because its really compact and light. Its your call buddy. Either one is going to be fine for outdoor.
