HAWKS Compact IR Laser + Green Laser Combo

Just stumbled across this: HAWKS Military Tactical Compact IR Laser Sight + Green Laser with Pressure Switch for Any Extreme Condition Use: Amazon.ca: Sports & Outdoors

Wondering if the IR laser is class 1 eye safe. No concise info in the description. Anyone ever seen this unit before?

Laser wavelength of IR laser:830-850nm

Laser Power:5mw

EDIT: That means it's Class three and not eye safe.

I wouldn't trust any of the published specs on them, since they are clearly from a company who has no idea what they are doing

And as such, no eye safe. Even if it is, you have no way to prove it : (

Figured as much, just wanted to confirm as there seems to be such little info on them.

Just get the output tested at a physics lab. Why does everyone assume testing laser output is impossible? O_o
Im having my modded G&P DBAL tested for its output soon, if it falls under class 1 ill start offering the mod. Im unsure as to the documentation that will be provided but ultimately it will be up to your local clubs to allow them.

Why would you pay that much for that laser? The china dbals are <100 dollars in HK.

Either way, they are both useless at games unless they can be proven eye safe...

How much is it costing you Frank to test the lasers?

wouldn't trust any laser out of china, with or without paperwork legit or not at an airsoft game.

I have a real steel project coming in my near future, a .22LR build, and I am looking for a second IR laser device to mount to it and for use as a back-up designator for OPs. Trying to find anything under $500 that is class 1 eye safe has been tiring. Could buy another PAQ-4 for five bills, but want variety, and preferably something smaller. DBAL/OTAL/ITAL size is the ball park I'm looking for size wise, hence my initial curiosity in this HAWKS model. Sad day. If anyone has the "in" on something of the nature I am looking for, for a good price I might add, holla at ya boy.

ThunderCactus, would be interested in an update regarding the G&P DBAL as it has been deemed not eye safe by many people. If you can put some good concrete testing data forward it would be worth looking at for many people. Updates updates updates yo.

Yeah its a 5mw/15?mw
Anyway the advantage is its a solid unit at a very affordable price.
The higher power function can be locked out permanently.
You can tell pretty easily if an ir laser is safe or not with nvd, the class 1s are characteristically dim and have no halo up close.
Of course ill try to get documentation, I can also do a side by side with a known class 1 IR laser ($900 pistol laser I believe)
Id be happy to send them out for secondary testing as well. Doesnt hurt to measure them twice!

Just so that people know. Frank is sending me the Dbals to be tested. I am 99.9% sure that for obvious liability reasons no paperwork or documents will be provided.

You get 1 unit from batch A that is tested an deemed safe.

What about 1 unit from batch B?

chinese brands are known for sourcing junk components or reusing recycled components or factory seconds. What if their next batch of components makes the thing 5 mw or worse?

This is playing with fire, only you're not in danger of harming yourself, you're harming other people.

Bingo.

Testing individual lasers and having them deemed safe is great between you and your buddies, but if Game Control see's a Chinese laser, it's banned, and I don't care how "sciency" you want to get with it, there is no method to test the laser on the field: Like a chrono. If you can't trust your players to shoot under the guidelines, how can you expect people to buy lasers under the guidelines?
