Question on the Importing Guns F.A.Q.

I'm going on a long road trip in May from Ontario to California, and I wanted to stop by the Evike Superstore and maybe pick up a gun. As long as I truthfully declare the gun and everything about it (and the rest of my stuff as well, obviously), no legal action can be taken against me, aside from gun seizure, correct? As well, there is a possibility that I will be let through with it, depending on the officer on duty at the time? Is it likely that it will be let through, or are airsoft guns commonly seized, even though it's properly stated and done professionally?

In short, should I even bother try bring a gun into Canada due to the likely hood of it being seized?

Many thanks,

Michael

are you prepared to lose whatever you spend on the gun?

People have brought guns over, and some which were technically above 366, properly marked and documented or from factory have also had them seized. It will depend on stellar alignment and if the cbsa guy asking you the questions gives a shit or not or is having a bad day or is a FNG and is keen to impress their supervisor.

You may also get lucky and they may not even ask.

You may also be UNlucky and they seize it and decide they want to hold you up for hours and they tear all the shit out of your car and search it.

If you want to buy a US gun and try and import it, you must be willing to gamble that you lose the value of the gun. If you're going to do it, I suggest you buy something you can't get here. Otherwise, I don't see the point. You aren't going to save gobs of money vs the potential loss.

1) Make sure it meets the FPS requirement.

2) Have it shipped to your home address. By the time you finish your trip it'll be through customs.
