Another thread, another hiCapa Issue

Hey guys,
haven't played in my HiCapa since my last thread :P I solved that problem so I'm creating this one now for a slightly different issue

Long story short, I changed the hammer and sear and valve knocker

Form what I gathered on the web, I have all my parts put together correctly

Issue:

When cocking the hammer, the valve knocker doesn't retract in its housing. I can manually push on it and it feels free to move up/down/etc.

The result is that if I put a mag in, the knocker is pushed upward, then I cock the hammer, it stays where it is, and pressing the trigger will just do nothing as the hammer never really moved from where it is

If I hold the gun with the barrel up, gravity will allow the knocker to retract when cocking the hammer.

What could I be missing or done wrong that would cause this issue?

Can take photos/videos if needed

Thanks

Isn't there a spring that hooks onto the knocker to retract it?

Yes, part H51-54 on that diagram

It is there and seems to do its job correctly

After market/upgrade firing pins are often over sized and need to be filed/rounded on the bottom to allow them to glide/slip over the magazine valve.

I would assume that cycling the slide and THEN inserting the mag has no issues. It is only when the mag is in and then you pull the hammer/cycle the slide that the gun will not shoot.

Nope
Even without mags it does the same thing

Will take a quick video and post it here when I get a chance

Edit:

Just Realized I am missing spring h51-51 and H51-47 / 48 / 49 (yeah haven't played in that gun for quite a while)
Not sure if H51-51 would cause this though?

You could try swapping out the new knocker for the stock knocker and seeing if the problem persists. If it doesnt it, it would be a knocker related problem.

With the knocker in the forward position, are you able to rest the knocker by depressing down on the knocker reset? Part 50 on the diagram. Pressing that should allow your knocker to reset. I have found on some guns that are well worn that the knocker resets have been worn down enough such that the slide does not depress them enough to reset the knocker. Probably a long shot but it could be that.

I would suggest finding a new H51-51 spring because it is VERY important.

However, without the spring the firing pin should still retract...but it (51-50) should stay down so when you shoot the gun should just vent all the gas... hmmmm

Thanks for all the inputs guy

I think I found the culprit for that particular problem;
The knocker spring seems a bit damaged and has a very small contact area with the knocker. When I reassembled the whole thing, it stayed there but as soon as I triggered the mechanism a few times, the spring would let the knocker go and then wouldn't do is job anymore

I'll be ordering a new one

Thanks again
