The thick material works well in hot weather, wore it this past weekend, was pretty much like wearing a regular BDU.

Perfect all year camo, AND it is also water proof (beeds up)

Here are my JGSDF gears.

JGSDF Summer shinmeisai BDU and chestrig.
The BDU even has a long pen-pocket like thing on the back and the sleeves.
These are used for putting branches and bushes to keep yourself camouflaged.

For the head gears, I got the PASGT helmet with JGSDF camo and officers cap with chrysanthemum crest.

As for the firearms, I got the Tokyo Marui Type 89.
All I am missing is the Tanaka Sig P220 JGSDF version, but I should be getting that in the next few weeks.

Lastly, 自衛隊 should be pronounced Jieitai, not Jietai :P

Just a question, but does Japan have a Latin based pronunciation method of writing similar to Pinyin?

Only the Romaji has the latin based pronounciation.
As for the Japanaese Kana (Hiragana and Katakana), they are moraic and for the Kanji, it's syllabic.

As for Pinyin, I don't think Latin based pronounciation can capture all the different tones the Chinese language uses. The most precise way is to write these in IPA symbols.

I could go into more details, but I think I will stop here before someone shoots himself after reading this.

Its Latin characters, but a lot of the combinations of letters do not actually sound like English/French/Latin. Plus the multiple tone accents. It does get quite confusing, and I am happy the wife puts up with my attempts ... so far any ways.

Romaji is a good start, but eventually you will have to start using on of the the three alphabets, Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji. The first two aren't too hard to memorize it just takes practice to use them to read and write. Now Kanji (Chinese Characters) takes time...

I got my Raincoat, Helmet band, Radio pouch and Suspenders in Yesterday I'll throw up some pictures when I get home from work.
Hats off to anyone that knows Japanese, needing to learn 3 alphabet to read and write + Grammar is alot of work.

I am not learning Japanese, but I am learning Chinese, but thought I'd ask if Japan ever went the same route as China did with pinyin.

Mind you, I got to be honest, for a typical mono-tone bai gui, who has a hard time pronouncing the tones of each sound. I find learning the Chinese written much easier then the tones. The wife is teaching me mainly simplified, but there is some traditional she has thrown in to help since most printed materials in Toronto are still in Traditional (as is Kanji, I believe).

Oh interesting, I figured since the Japanese adopted it ages ago, before simplified they'd have kept it the same and not went Simplified as the PRC did. Thanks!

Japanese does not use the simplified form of Chinese characters. Maybe for few words like "Kokuji", but they is almost always use the traditional form of Chinese characters.

I know for a fact both Chinese and Japanese has several Romanization way of writing. For Chinese, it's Pinyin, IPA, Yale, Wade-Giles and Gwoyu luomazi (sorry for not writing the diacritics, was too lazy ).
As for Japanese, there are IPA, Kunreisiki and Hepburn.
